John Barnes is spot on. Andrew also goes back on what he said that he wasn't immediately "aware" of what was going on. But then states a minute later he actually knows a lot about what was going on in the middle east. Caught in his own web there. I've never thought about it before, but we do as a society assign different characteristics to refugees depending on where they come from.

He did, however, present a valid explanation for his bias, even though he doesn't seem to understand it himself. He has seen more of the suffering in Ukraine, because that is considered news worthy by a biased media. We do not know whether he would take in a Yemenite family if having been equally aware of the situation in Yemen. He wants us to believe he would, and he wants himself to believe he would. Being part of the media, he is, off course, to some degree, to blame for the media bias. Still, he is to be commended for showing compassion. Selective compassion is still compassion. Helping one and not the other, is still helping one.
