£8 million is a piffling amount when compared £37 billion (yes £37,000,000,000) that was supposedly spent on track and trace. It makes you wonder how this astonishing sum was used, and if we as citizens are entitled to have a copy of the money trail….
@TalesOfWar
@TalesOfWar Жыл бұрын
What makes the track and trace thing even more insane is that we HAD a system that WORKED! It was literally among the best in the world, that was set up during the SARS epidemic. The government canned it a year or so before COVID to save money, then had to quickly reinvent the wheel when it turns out that maybe it was a bad idea and such a thing is actually useful to have. And it didn't work, because they threw the money at the wrong people. But hey, their friends and donors got a nice chunk of our money out of it.

The London stock exchange is no longer the most valued in Europe. Paris is more valuable now. The Tories claim to know about economics but have driven our country down into the ground. They boast about the high employment in the UK (aka all British people in employment) in the middle of a labour shortage and cost of living crisis, their solution is to exclude foreign workers who would enable the economy to function, plummet the value of the pound and pull us out of the EU. Absolute morons who would not have gotten anywhere without their privilege and private schooling.

Then there are the people needed to interview and recruit the nurses, extra uniforms, training etc. Back in 2018 the Welsh NHS was paying over £1M per week just for paying agency nurses because they can't recruit enough full time staff. £8M won't go as far as you think.

Out of the 100 new French personnel, half of them will be "administrators" (ask anyone who works in the public sector), leaving 50. Of those fifty a quarter will be on leave at any one time. leaving 38. 10% will be on sick leave, leaving 35. Of those remaining 2 out of seven will be on their 2 days a week off, leaving 25. One of the remaining will be on a training course leaving 24. They will be split up into three teams, covering three 8 hour shifts per day, meaning 8 officers on duty at any one time. Given that the English Channel is 350 miles long on the French side, full of inlets and coves, I don't think this initiative is going to have a huge impact.

This huge hole in the economy of 50 billion. There are a record number of uk billionares now since covid - 171 in all! Simply take half a billion from each and problem over. Why don't they use that £55M to build affordable homes for people who have been on the housing list for years and for Asylum seekers.She also needs to create a system where asylum seekers can apply to come here from which ever country they are escaping from. Surely that would be easier than policing the beaches in France? Surely a few immigration offices would be more beneficial to Asylum seekers in France.
