Quite useful! I 4WD these daily for work (the ones we have with lockers tend to get broken unfortunately) and I wanted to get an idea of how the brake traction control was working. To me its like a 10% bonus mode that kicks in right when you just about think you have to reverse back.

Try Land Rover - you’ll have more success with the Terrain Response and TC as the TC activates within ⅛ of a wheel rotation - none of this crazy wheel spinning before the TC takes action.

Thanks Robert good video just a correction to your summary, front hubs on later 79s can not be set to free or auto they can only be set to lock or auto ie in the auto mode they automatically lock when the front axles are driven such as 4H or 4L

Nice video 👍. One question: What is the Neutral (N) position above the L4 for? In which scenarios would you use this?

Good question. It's neutral, but in the transfer case. That means the car is towable if an auto. In a manual, not a huge amount of use.

Putting the transfer case into Neutral could be useful for flat towing a 70 Series. Or anti theft device for someone trying to steal a 70 Series by breaking in and driving it away after hot starting it. At least for a short while, before they figure it out. In a 200 Series or Prado 150 Series the transfer "lever" between low and high range does not have a Neutral position, so it's an indication that Toyota doesn't see the need for users to know how to put the transfer case into neutral.

No BTC remains active in L4 except for the G Wagen which is journalism weird. BTC works in H4 too.

You mentioned the BTC on the Prado and the 200. Does the Prado , 200 and also the Hilux all have the same BTC system (current models)?

Yes, broadly. The basic electronic systems are the same across all Toyotas, but tuned differently. There is more difference between a 2010 Prado and 2020 Prado than say a 2020 Prado and 2020 Hilux. The one vehicle they tuned poorly was the LC70, I suspect that they just threw ESC onto it and BTC was a by-product of that and they didn't spend any time on it. The LC70 is very poor compared to the other Toyotas.

As Car Expert correctly explains - the LC 70 series are utter rubbish. But people still love and buy them even though they cost more than twice what they should. In my book a part time 4WD isn’t really a true 4WD. If it’s part time it is often (mostly) Not a 4WD. Permanent or Full Time 4WD is an actual true 4WD - all 4 wheels driven, always. Also annoyingly is that there are very few vehicles indeed that allow the front locker without the rear locker being engaged - they should both be independently controlled - one, the other or both; while TC should remain an option on non-locked axle.
