We get a lot of phone calls from customers that can't install the cam gear on to the cam after putting the timing chain on it.

I’ve been doing a 22re rebuild for like a year now timing has been told it’s straight in and straight down for both and it has not been able to start had to do another rebuild glad I saw this before running it again

The dual row conversion kit for the 83 22r has "two" gold links on one side and "one" link on the other. Whats the proper link alignment for this set up?. In this video it only shows a timing chain with "one gold link per side.

The mark on the cam gear should sit in-between the bright links and it will be slightly off from the 12 O'clock position like at 11:55ish.

Sweet info, great video! Thank you. Question: Is this a necsity on a motor that does not see maintained high RPM? What would be the main advantages to the modification, as far as reliablity? Overall advan? I look forward to purchasing components from you shortly as my 22R has 250K with a cheaper "new" head. on it

Adjustable cam gears are generally used to correct camshaft timing after the head has been milled or when the block is decked. Cam gears are also an effective way to dial-in a camshaft by advancing the cam for low-end power or retarding the cam for top-end power.

If the chain is a tooth out will it wind over without hitting a valve. I put a brand new chain in after counting the links but the were shiny links aside from the join. I winds over perfectly but won't start even with engine start spray. Although mine is the a 22r.

It would be nice if it came with instructions showing which guide hole to use. Now my timing cover is on and I can't get the sprocket on the cam
