The Leon County School Board met on January 14 and discussed an array of issues including conversations about:
• Investing in Employees: The School Board reached tentative agreements with bargaining units, including provisions for parental leave, sick leave buyback, and free before and after school care for employees' children. These agreements demonstrate a commitment to employee well-being and work-life balance.
• Collaborative Partnerships for Student Success: The Children's Services Council (CSC) presented an overview of programs like summer enrichment and youth mentoring that benefit students, highlighting the strong partnership between the CSC and the School Board.
•Recognizing Achievements and Honoring Legacy: The School Board recognized Dr. Benny Bolden for receiving the Florida Music Educators Association Leadership Award and voted to name the Rickards High School gymnasium after a beloved former educator, Ernest L. Jones.
