@TheToledoTrumpton5 жыл бұрын
@@IMilo82 - Because she is using modelling is an excuse. In order to do an effective analysis and arrive at a reasonable hypothesis for corrective action, you pretty much have to understand what the key variables are in the process and how they affect your metrics. Modelling only serves to calibrate the process and determine the extent of the variance in the metrics, based on how much you change the key variables, and any interaction between the key variables. But any decent analysis should include a list of key variables and whether they positively or negatively affect the metrics, and probably a good idea of the extent, so that you can make a decision on corrective action. Modelling is usually only done to optimize corrective action, or if there is a complex interaction between the key variables, that might be non-intuitive.

3:02 I love this guy. I work in a preschool in Japan, I'm the only male teacher in my school, and the pay scale is very straightforward based on responsibilities of teachers. My female manager has promoted me above my female teachers because I take on more responsibility, I arrive at work earlier, and work later. Yes, I get paid more...for a reason, and I don't think it's because my female manager is being sexist.

How's it like in Japan? I'm confident that most modern, westernised civilisations have 0 or at least very minimal unfair pay differences which is why it infuriates me that this video showcases such an ill-prepared group of women fighting for something they have no evidence of whatsoever but I'm aware that there are still some sexist practices in Japan(women pouring tea for clients etc)

That would never happen in Australia. Any men working extra hours would be told they can’t, or if it was allowed there would be no extra pay and no recognition. This misses the point. Why does the gender pay gap need to be eliminated? It is simply the average of all full-time working men vs the average of all full time working women. It is a meaningless statistic that tells you nothing about whether one gender or the other is being discriminated against.

@ Research from Victoria University of Wellington examining taxation and government welfare spending by age and gender in New Zealand shows that women pay less tax than men over their lifetime and receive more government assistance. 200% more. Search for research paper ‘Income and Fiscal Incidence by Age and Gender: Some Evidence from New Zealand’ which has been accepted for publication by international economics journal, Review of Income and Wealth. Researchers: Professor Norman Gemmell, Victoria’s Chair in Public Finance, Honours student Athene Laws and Omar Aziz, from New Zealand Treasury and Harvard University. Figure 5 illustrates how large the gender tax gap is, as the male share of the tax burden is immensely larger than the female tax burden. Figure 16 illustrates how women receive more government benefits than they pay into the system during the course of their lives in all but a short window from roughly age 40 to age 60. Even then, women receive far more government benefits than men. Figure 17 is the most damning, as it shows the cumulative fiscal impact per capita per sex. Women are a net drain on government resources (and therefore male taxpayers) from birth to death. Women end up with an average $150,000 lifetime deficit between what they pay into the system vs. what they take out of it! Importantly, men would wind up a net surplus at the end of our lives if Socialist governments didn’t force us to support women with our tax dollars! So, it can be said Western governments are broke because of women, and Western governments are wealth redistribution agents that rob overproductive men to pay underproductive women. It can also be said that if men didn’t have the burden of women and weren’t forced to carry both their weight and our own, we could work a lot less and enjoy life a lot more.

I cannot believe this issue is still being discussed at such a high-level. Anyone with a basic understanding of statistics knows the gender 'pay gap' is ideologically motivated propaganda. There is simply no evidence that the difference in earnings found in statistical analysis is the result of discrimination, moreover it has been clear for DECADES that on average, women and men make different choices in their career pursuits, not to mention it has been ILLEGAL since the early 70s to discriminate in such a way. I am genuinely saddened by the lack of intellectual rigor on display here, and ironically it demonstrates that these women are more interested in feeling like members of a victim class then they are understanding fundamental behavioural truths about humankind.

When female tennis players are competing they play the best of 3 sets per match, men play best of 5 sets. Women and men receive the same payments per match while the men always have to play more actual games due to the number of sets. How is this equal or equitable to men. The women are effectively paid the same per match for less effort, surely this discriminates against men and is therefore illegal.

@harryseldon67125 жыл бұрын
The people who led the development, built the technology and made the discoveries were primarily males. They were not especially privileged, but they were the brains and motivation behind all the success. It is males that run all the essentials in a developed country. If males went on strike and did only home duties, things such as electricity grids and water supplies would break down very quickly. There would be serious famine as trucks, trains, and ferries broke down and of course most operators would not be there. Sewerage works would fail, farms would fail, disease and starvation would prevail. Phone systems and Internet systems would fail permanently; they could not be maintained.
@harryseldon67125 жыл бұрын
If females were to go on strike, and did only home duties, the quality of life we have would continue. The bureaucrats would stop passing a greater variety of sexual harassment laws, workplace bullying laws, quota laws to favour women and the latest rape laws. Without feminist influence in the law, the sentences would still favor women, but the bias would be less extreme. Many innocent men would not be charged. (Eg KZbin search for: *Rape Liar Exposed* - Paul Elam). The Gender Studies classes would stop the male bashing. But many of us would not notice, it wouldn't matter. More noticeable would be the temporary partial closure of schools and hospitals which would be emergency only ... but life would go on without disease, famine or a loss of Internet.

Any senior secondary high school student studying mathematics could have answered that theoretical question in affirmative. Could the senator look into the Equal Parenting Act of 2006 that was rolled back by the Gillard government. Currently 80% of contested family hearings result in a 70/30 split in favour of women, which has the roll-on effect that most negotiated settlements are also 70/30. This forces women into the gendered roles of housewives and men into the gendered roles of wage earners contributing horribly to the wage gap. There are many men that believe in women's equal participation in the workforce and the dismantlement of outdated patriarchal views of men's and women's roles in rearing children. Yet for some unforeseen reasons it is women's groups who publicly state they believe in equality actively blocking this move towards equality, and men's groups, lambasted frequently in the media as retrogrades trying to take us back to the dark ages, that are fighting for a future where men and women are equal.

If women are paid less than men there would be no unemployed women. The statistic is flawed. It's that simple. If a woman works 40 hours a week in the same job for 20 years she will get paid exactly the same amount as a man working 40 hours a week for 20 years. If the woman works 70 hours a week she will get paid more and likely promoted more quickly, the same as a man would under the same conditions. The difference is that the man is more likely to work the extra hours, more likely to work in a higher risk job like underground mining that pays more and more likely to work in a more physically demanding occupation. Why are we still flogging the same old horse that we've been flogging for 50 years expecting a different answer. Every country that has done audits of payrolls and conditions has found that in fact women get paid more and men simply don't complain about it. The BBC did this and ended up raising the wages of a number of men who were being underpaid for the same work as women.

In another related video on this channel (same senator asking, same women answering), we established that another factor is that men in the same job as women work longer hours. I am looking forward to the the next video. Excited to find any other factors.

This is too easy. I found another factor already in the next video! Safety. Women return unharmed from work more reliably than men. Of course that is not factored in. On a side note - why is not half their board male? I think they should do a gender equality analysis on their own organization.

if the gender pay gap is real, and women were not paid as much for the same work, then why isnt every single company hiring only women? Its cheaper, right? Because of the pay gap?

Exactly, despite being racist (according to SJWs) employers are quite happy to employ immigrants willing to work for less money if their skills match the job. Indeed, that's de rigeur in agriculture. Can't think for one second why they wouldn't emloy a highly skilled/highly motivated reliable woman employee if they could get her for 30% (or even 5%) less than her male counterpart.

@danpowers30225 жыл бұрын
So they admit that if there were more male child care workers then it would affect the study. This proves the whole study is contaminated and will not provide an honest outcome. What a useless department and a waste of time and resources. Sack the whole department and save us taxpayers some money.

If the hourly pay gap is zero, as ensured by law, then we must look at the hours worked. I bet if the pay gap is 15%, women in aggregate work 15% less hours than men in the same job.

I worked almost 3 decades in manufacturing as an engineer and manager. Overwhelmingly men put in far, far more hours than women, hands down. Women went home to their children. No one complained back then. Now they are complaining? Women who worked longer hours were single with no kids. Competent? Yes! Same hours? Not at all.

The Workplace Gender Equality Agency must be given the remit to look for the companies that are breaking the law by paying a woman less than they are paying a man for exactly the same job. They must bring a case against them and prosecute in a court of law. Hourly rate and annual salary plus hours worked and time taken off sick or leave must be accounted for. Only then when prosecutions are won will I believe them. I can see they are fiddling the figures to keep themselves employed. They no longer have an agency or a job when they cannot show the laws are being broken.

the problem is that this also doesn't take into account the way different people might negotiate their starting salaries. for example, in australia, jobs are often advertised not at one salary but within a range of say $50-$60k range depending on candidate's experience. you could easily ask for $5-$6k more than what they offer you, and then you're now getting more than someone else in the same role - but it's not through discrimination.

Equal pay for equal work does not bring into account equal output or results. This has been measured in some areas I believe, but,if so, what is the answer or result.
