I believe the data shows that *any* employee, regardless of gender, shows a diminishing value added the higher the number of hours worked beyond certain thresholds, which are in turn dependant on the type of work being performed. Generally speaking when an employee is full time, you do pay them more because they have more experience and can demand more pay. Part time employees usually do not have the level of experience that can command the same rate. A lot of full time employees started out working part time and then make the transition. I would be more interested in seeing all part time workers annualized and then compared, also a comparison of all full time compared to just full time. Generally speaking part time employees are at the beginning of their career while full time employees are more established. Many people choose to always stay part time for a number of reasons, family, going back to school,etc. But it is hard to build a career if you just stay part time. Full time employees are also for the most part taking a bigger lead on bigger projects. Part time is generally speaking supporting the full time. For some part time is a perfect compromise between financial wealth and mental wealth, for others it can be frustrating. Sorry, you deleted your comment.

@@IronFreee essentially true. Our firm pays 40% of hours billed regardless of whether they are boy or girl. It doesn't matter. If the girl is only billing 1500 hrs a year and a guy is billing 2200 ... he's going to be paid more ... for the same work. In our firm, on average, our men bill about 22-25% more hours. Of course they get paid more, of course they advance faster, this is not brain surgery. Who do you pay more, the guy who brings in $1,100,000 in revenue, or the woman that is bringing in $900,000 per year. That's obvious. Moreover, the unpaid hours spent rain making isn't even taken into consideration. In my experience the 'gap' does not exist. Same for paralegals and secretarial staff. Although, the comparison is tough because all of ours are women.

It's actually quite simple to create, if a bit tedious, but everyone who goes into probability/stats learns how to do it. They use this argument in the USA, but don't account for the fact that women generally go into lower-paying, lower-education, lower-skill level, and lower danger jobs than men. Women become nurses. Men become the surgeons. Women are the hostess and servers in the restaurant. Men are the chefs. Women are the flight attendants. Men are the pilots. Women are the accountants or secretaries. Men are the engineers and architects. There's nothing systematic about it. Men and women are GENUINELY DIFFERENT and statistically choose different careers. I doubt (in the USA) anyone can find an example in which a female pilot got paid less than a male pilot in the same company with the same experience and education. There isn't a single instance where a female nurse gets paid less than a male nurse in the same hospital with the same schedule, education, and experience.

Only if they are as efficient at the job. My friend works in constructions (in Canada), and many times he's teamed up with a girl. When the time comes to lift some heavy stuff, he HAS to do it 100% of the time. She makes the same money as him, but he's doing all the heavy lifting. He complained to his boss and asked to be paired with ppl that can do the job, not only bits. He didn't get his way ofc. The only thing the company can do is shuffle the girls around in different teams, so that guys don't get aggravated to the point of quitting. Even if the girl makes less money than a guy, the company won't just hire women, because they actually lose efficiency.

This is why we can't have honest political debate anymore. We don't have honest data anymore that we can trust in order to tweak our approach to sociopolitical issues. Nowadays studies are conducted in a manner to fit a foregon conclusion. The data is tweaked to fit instead of our views. It's sad but I don't trust any studies that come out anymore. Ive never worked a job with women where the woman wasn't given preferential treatment in every way. The military... They have a much easier bootcamp. Restaurants ... The ALWAYS male general manager is always accepting of the flintiness that comes his way and gives them the sections/days they want to work. The dudes pick up the slack, run food, and are ALWAYS the cooks/chefs. In a school... Every man is watched over like their pedos while the women go off and party with students without back lash. A hottie female teacher in my high school fuckked a bunch of dudes, its cool as a student, but can the male teachers get away with that ? HELL NO ... They don't work hard labor AT ALL ( equality ? ) Hollywood... In a day or a few days a good looking woman can get SAG eligibility while men/dudes usually have to wait years. I waited 4 years. And when it comes to being late, they show up late and its hit or miss BUT you have a much easier chance of skating if your a chick, and you just give a nonsense excuse.

I understand the cases were women are pregnant, because of course they need to focus on their pregnancy and they cant just quit their job for they need a salary. But under equal circumstances... equity does not apply. If I work at the same place, in the same position than a woman, I expect to gain the same salary (which means the same salary for the same working service = same amount of hours) and if i work my ass off and work extra hours and she does also... well we get paid the same. but if she doesnt, she cant complain. I once had a case were we had to put way more effot than usual, I worked extra hours with my boss (who is a woman) and my partner (another woman) didnt put the same effort. I didnt expect to be recognized, because the case was my work and I´m responsible to the company in which I work, but I did demanded (TO HER, not to my boss) that she (partner) met the responsability that the case demanded because i was doing all the work and we knew there wouldnt be extra pay (there was another guy too that did a poor job but was of a lower rank). What happened? My boss (a woman) fired her, next year he fired the other guy and 2 years later i was promoted ... by recomendation from my boss (a woman). It all comes down to competence and responsability. just because you´re a woman it doesnt mean that you are entitled to equity.

The real problem is defining "competence". Any time you measure for something, the system becomes gamed and self-reinforces. Competence is very subjective. How do we decide who gets to decide who's competent? How do we know the person responsible for choosing who's competent is competent at doing that?

Benjamin Cronce I see your point, but in this case for instance, this woman is analysing statistical information as part of her job, and clearly whoever employed her did not check that she even had the most rudimentary understanding of what that even means. By virtue of the evidence in this video, I would say that she is more likely to be in her role because she is a woman, rather than someone who demonstrated an ability to do what is obviously required in such a post. In short, this incredible lack of ineptitude was seldom seen in days where it would have been more important to demonstrate competence rather than rely on being part of an ‘oppressed’ identity group. In which case, the persons selecting her did not even have competence as a criteria.
