In 2007, the mayor of the village of Camembert, Mr. Jean Gaubert, authorized Guy Vialis to design an official knife for the village where the world famous cheese originated. The result is not a cheese knife but a great general purpose EDC knife.

I know mr Vialis, i go in his shop every years, he is a very nice guy, i bought the "Sauveterre" 3 years ago. So good video, i was proud to be french when i see the reputation of our knives ^^. The "Gwalarn" is one of my favourite Vialis' knife too...

Habe mir die deluxe Version dieses Messers in Paris gekauft. Ein richtig tolles Messer. Jetzt noch ein richtig reifer Camembert, der von allein davonläuft und ein gutes Brot...

Fresh bread, delicious cheese, a full bodied red wine, and a fine knife. Sometimes life is very good indeed. I like that knife, it looks like a good combination of style and practicality. Thanks for the review Stefan.

Very nice & clean modern knife with a timeless design, and with a blade that looks a bit like the one on the traditional Alpin. I love Camembert. Correction, I am addicted to it. Unfortunately it's expensive here in Singapore. According to my parents, "camembert" was one of the first words I learned to say after "mom" and "dad. Really!

What a gorgeous blade. Even the tounge in cheek blade markings somehow seem to work for the knife. And such an interesting blend of old and new in the design language, which you managed to display very clearly. I find myself wanting one. Thank you for this review! On a semi-related note, it seems the Sandvik conglomerate is doing record business this year. Their steels appear hot on the market!

Speaking as someone who is subjected to German tourists every year I can safely say that they will buy anything that is local and/or silly. In Småland they buy elk droppings in a glass bottle as if they were discount hot cakes. Nu, I love the fact that Germans come over but I wonder what they do with all their souvenirs. Who puts elk droppings on their coffee table? As always Stefan, great review. As so often with the French blades this is not for me but thank you for showing it in your style.

Da musst du so oft französisch essen, damit du uns so tolle Video bringen kannst.

There are tons of reviews on the latest releases by Zero Tolerance, Cold Steel, Spyderco, etc. I thought I would do something off the mainstream and add a different color to the KZbin world of knives. - Good to hear that you enjoy your Fontenille Pataud knife!

LMAO!!! I would surely love to buy some cheese and then discover that what I had really bought was a knife! Incredible knife this Camembert, very modern design but very classy. I wonder Mr.Schmalhaus how do you find about so many different, fabulous knives. Thanks for another fantastic video, these were probably my best spent 6 minutes of the day. Take care!!

Tolles Messer! LG Stephan

That is a very attractive French slipjoint. I like it more than a Laguiole or Opinel. I'm currently trying to choose a good EDC slipjoint or lockback that is slightly heavy duty capable, and I'm thinking about a Lion Steel lockback with ramhorn handle and damascus blade, but it's $300. I might have to step down to a lower model. I did find a nice Viper slipjoint with a long wood handle and blade.

Some of them are good, some of them are bad. I could have written "exposed to" or "have worked with" but the point would be the same. Like tourists everywhere there are issues with people from abroad using your country as Disneyland, especially as it is our nature very many of them come to experience. I don't mind the fact that they show up, I just wish some of them would pick up more of their trash (and learn a bit of English or Swedish, perhaps).

What's the cheese smell and taste like? Does it compare to anything Italian or does it smell like feet? Looks good.

Stefan, thank you for your very profesional reviews. They are the best on the tube. I am not a collector but I love knives. I found your chanel by accident and have been looking at your videos for two days now. I have an Opinel no 6 since 30 years in my pocket every day. And a beautifull Laguiole someliers knive in brass and bone for the past 18 years. As a result of your videos I am looking to purchace a folding filet knife. How are the Opinel filets in your opinion ? Sorry for the long comment. I can give my email if it helps. Regards Cem.
