Do you happen to know if the base of your size is the same as the sauteuse? Also is that color Sea Salt?

@@connielahman5725 yes it’s the sea salt! I linked it in the description too if that helps. I’m honestly not sure as I’m not really sure what the sauteuse is! 😬 If you know the size of that, I’d be happy to measure my base for you to compare though.

Lots of testers have found that preheating the dutch oven empty in the oven does not significantly affect the qualities of the bread to any degree. Some people just like to make things overly complicated.

@@johnharper257 that’s very interesting - I’ll have to test that theory out! I bake gluten free, and baking gluten free is a whole other beast, so what works for regular gluten-filled baking, doesn’t always work for gluten free. I know we rely on that initial oven spring, so I’d be surprised if it doesn’t affect anything by not preheating.

Who recommends putting ice cubes in the pot? I've seen it being recommended putting to some other container at the bottom of the oven, same thing with water, but never seen anyone recommend it putting it in the pot itself. Where does bread go then?

It’s incredibly common in bread baking groups where you’re baking bread in a Dutch oven with a lid! Especially for gluten free bread. Basically you put the bread in on parchment paper and slip a few ice cubes between the parchment and Dutch oven. Now I try to warn everyone not to do this! 🤦🏻♀️
