The early excavatìons of the Louvres defence architecture were extremely interesting! As a history student and military archeologist those informations are a real "drug" to me (british army joke: never let an officer and a map alone together...) Love to see the evolution of towns, cities, countries... (and shudder to see what evolves from it...)

It is difficult to find books and videos dealing only with the Louve as a palace.

Very interesting documentary. There were also some excavations at the end of XIXth century. Lescot invented the French classical style of architecture there, inspired by palaces in Italy. First floor is the noble floor, second floor is the attique. The 1850 photograph of pavillon de Flore shows the new one, not the original one that was destroyed, 1849 photograph shows the old one.

French style is more strict and serious.

As a American who admires French history I appreciate the history of the Lourve. Now, I am not interested at all in the museum. My interest is only with the castle and palace. Thank you
