The Chrysler Viper is my favorite car from the 98' Le Mans... you gotta love the R390, GT-ONE and CLK-GTR...all of them just made wonderful history

Man, the 1998 race had some sweet rides. That howling Ferrari V12 333 SP prototype, the turbo monsters comprising of the Porsche 911 GT1-98, the Toyota GT-One and the Nissan R390 GT1, not to mention the failed but still awesome Mercedes CLK-LM and original BMW V12 LM.

Yes, they made two. The first one is parked in Toyota's Motorsport Museum in Köln (Collogne), Germany. The another one resides in some museum somewhere in Japan (at least that's what guys at Toyota say).

And one of the greatest exotic cars on Earth. It is the second fastest FIA/LM GT1 car after the Dauer 962 Le Mans road car and its performance, weight and power are equivalent to Group C sports prototypes. Also both a GT and prototype in one, which another huge plus. And the fact that the road and track-only version differenciate only in aesthetics says it all.

Yes it had only raced at Le Mans both those years, which was their weak spot. Not goign to other races with it like Sebring didnt allow it to shake out some ofh te bugs it had. The car had alot of potential, and its unfortunate that Toyota decided to go to F1, where their results were dismal. I would love to see the FIA bring rules to allow such cars to race again.

Why now in ALMS, LMS, Fia GT open the all of the Porsches are 997 when 996 are better?In ALMS now the Ferraris are domminating the 997 porsches.Before 996 where smashing the 360 and the 430

I don't know what anyone else thinks, but Speed Channel (or whatever they're calling it now) needs to go back to the way things were in the 90's and early 21st with constant coverage of Le Mans, Sebring, F1, etc. Now it's primary focus is NASCAR, nothing against anyone who adores such an event, but I just don't like it and the reason why I don't like it is truly ironic..

The commentator is lousy, he comments on the slow moving Ferrari..."possibly damaged rear suspension or maybe even a loose wheel" just as it's driving past the camera with the whole right front wheel gone. LOL
