As someone who have almost the same exact pc specs for sim racing VR, this is a very helpful video. I have not bought LMU yet as I am waiting for a full release but your videos really helped with my decisions and how I would go with making my sim racing experience better.

Hi, thank you for the feedback and I am glad you liked the video. As I mentioned at the end of the video, this are suggested settings for the early release version of LMU (at least with the recent updates for Dec 2024). Once the full release happens, I will again dive into the settings and look at what can and can't be done with a reasonably priced graphics card. What are you racing now?

@@OlderGamersPerspective F1 24 is not perfect but I did add some mods that helped improve the AI to make it more fun and disabled all assist except the racing line. It is actually my first F1 since my PS2 F1 2004 game so it is good that I cannot compare it to the 2020 - 2023 versions (which people preferred)

Quest 3 user, happy with my PC settings for all the games I play (iRacing, AMS2, and LMU) Just bought LMU a few hours ago. Didn’t take long to figure it out as far as most settings so I’m happy about that. However, for some reason, since the latest Meta Horizon OS update, my Q3 is stupid buggy. Drops mid race, cable shows plugged in and charging but computer is not found, have to restart headset several times at times to get it to link to my PC. Ruined some folks races today cause it inexplicably disconnected mid race and went to the immersive screen. Buggiest app ever. Headset is brand new as I wore my last one out. I am gonna play with your settings here and see what I get. Cheers for the video!

If you haven't already, when setting up a race weekend, try Advanced Settings>Advanced> turn opponent aggression to "Low", you may enjoy racing the AI more

Thank you for the tip, I was worried that if I turned this down too low it would cause the Ai to be uncompetitive, but it's certainly something I will try in the future.

Hi, I have a question. VR works normally, but I have a triple screen and I have already set it to one image and it works, but when I start VR mode, it starts all my monitors. When I turn it off, you won't even let me turn it on. When I wear VR and turn on the three monitors, the image in the glasses is fine, but the screen on the monitor goes terribly crazy. I'm very close. Sorry for my english and thank you very much and good luck

i actully have worse performance with AC1, less cpu overhead which also spikes and some times becomes cp u bound.. this is in part the mod cars and tracks that lfm uses but its mostly due to the age of the game and how it uses modern cpus.. in lmu i have 40 % cpu overhead with a 5700x3d, should probably turn up shadows lol

if you want to use better graphics settings use the fiv multiplier - i play with 0.3 vertical and horizontal at 0.8, means the computer only has to render about 25% of the pixels and gives you proper helmet visor view. Still see all the road and hud items appear outside the boundary, all it really means is you dont see your legs or the roof liner. run my quest 3 at 90hz and max res, 4x msaa in lmu and cars opponents, circuit and textures all maxed out on a 3070
@OlderGamersPerspectiveКүн бұрын
the fov multiplier in the Oculus Debug Tool? I have used that in the past, but I prefer the version you can implement in OpenXR Toolkit. But yeah, it is a great tip, and people will gain FPS using it. The reason I didn't use it here is because I wanted to show what the out-of-the-box experience is for LMU. When they do a final release of this sim, hopefully soon, I will do a deeper dive into the graphical settings and that for sure will include FOV multiplier.

Please let me know. I'm hesitant to buy VR because I don't know the connection and image quality situation. I'm using Quest 3 and 3080ti. I would like to use Virtual Desktop instead of Quest Link, is that possible? If it is possible to connect, I would like to use VDXR for OpenXR Runtime. In ACC, you can only choose SteamVR or OculusVR, so I can't select VDXR. In ETS2 and ATS, you can set the launch to OpenXR and play in VDXR.
@jamesleegte2 күн бұрын
I’ve been using VR only since 2016. VR image will never be as good as a monitor, we will never have refresh rates as high as a monitor and we will never be able to set graphics settings as high as a monitor. We trade all of that in for immersion and for me the immersion and excitement of VR is King and massively outweighs having sharper images at higher refresh rates. VR there are trade offs, but the immersion in driving sims especially rally games is off the charts compared to monitor(s). Only you can decide from your preferences what you prefer!
@ganjitray57872 күн бұрын
Perhaps the translation was not correctly translated and the true meaning was not conveyed. I am aware that, as you say, the image quality is poor compared between monitors. I also enjoy iRacing, ACC, ETS2, ATS, etc. in VR rather than on a monitor for a more immersive experience when playing. I am searching for the settings that will give the best image quality. At a setting of 72FPS, Virtual Desktop (Godlike) has better image quality than Ouest Link's highest image quality. VDXR is lighter in load than SteamVR, so the image quality can be set in a better direction. I just want to know if I can connect with Virtual Desktop's VDXR when playing LMU in VR.
@jamesleegte2 күн бұрын
@ VDXR is supported in LMU. You can only use godlike on 4000 series cards. How you ended up writing so many lines to ask two simple questions I’ll never know haha. VD image quality is dictated by the strength of your router and the strength of your local network. The better and stronger your router and your network the better the quality you will have and it will be better than a link cable. If you have an average router and average local network it won’t be as good as link cable.

I have a 3080 and older 8700k. I run it with forced motion smoothing and even then it can drop below that with 2x msaa. but it is much the same with ams2. Accorging to fpsvr it is still the gpu that is the bottleneck But biggest issue for me is ffb. On my simagic m10 it is very light around centre and then almost too heavy at extremes. I have good ff b in ams2 using a custom file. I dont run the racemanager simagic software at all. Turning smoothing setting up doesnt help I think i will have to try running with racemanager and trying settings I have had the game since lauch but not played it much due to ffb. Agree big improvement for vr. I use HP G2 Also not a fan of some of the tracks...Fuji I hate
@awakeandwatching953Күн бұрын
most of us have that issue, i have a g pro.. i turned of sustained ffb and just turned up the ffb a lil as it was way to heavy on fast turns and didnt help the issues.. doesn't motion smoothing cause the fps to drop to half as soon as it doesn't hit its target, not sure why you would use it

Yes, it would be nice if they looked at what other sims are offering. I think the inclusion of Radar would sort out so many of the problems that people have with races where some people have less race craft than one would hope. I mean, the modified version of AC1, using content manager, has Radar, so how hard can it be?

I bought a quest 3s and I rarely use it. There are just too many negatives for me, not least of which is the drop in quality and that anything not directly ahead is out of focus.
@OlderGamersPerspective2 күн бұрын
This could be an issue with how you have the headset centred over your eyes, or possibly you might need inserts. For me, sure, the quality of VR is nothing like a good monitor will show you, but I just love the immersion that VR offers. Sims, on track, or in the air, or in space, make a lot more sense to me in VR. In fact Elite Dangerous (a game I have played over the decades on many different computers) was not much fun at all until I got a Oculus Rift (and of course updated my graphics card), and then it was like.... Wow. How huge are those space stations. Racing was a similar story to me. I just couldn't get used to using a button to look left or right, but as soon as I raced in a VR headset (again the rift), it all started to make sense. But I can understand your point of view. The amount of sodding around you need to do with VR can be frustrating, especially when you have it working fine, and someone like iRacing changes stuff, and suddenly you need to start again with bench marks to sort out an optimal setting. For me, it will probably always be VR, but I have been using VR now for so long (coming up on what.... ten years next year?) that I think I am a lost cause when it comes to going back to a monitor.
