I did wonder that myself while I was making the video, but we have yet to see a firm date for the iRacing overlay update, or indeed what it will look like, except for the concept art we've been show. Still, as I say in the video, the important thing really it to learn OpenKneeBoard, as it can be used with many other applications.

Glad you found the information in this video helpful, and today I received this comment that explains OpenKneeBoard.... kneeboards are used by pilots to strap critical information to their leg, above, the knee, so they can look down to see important information about flight path or whatever. OpenKneeboard because it is an open source project for putting critical information into view in VR.

It’s probably called openkneeboard because it’s open source and originally designed for flight sim. Or atleast the developer wanted to use it for flight sim. And a kneeboard is used for flight planning documents like approach plates and such.

I have only had a brief look at this, but I think you need to use a slightly different option for RaceLabs, although I am not 100% sure on this, so I intend to do a video soon to clarify the issues you might face.

I haven't had a chance to test Virtual Desktop with OpenKneeboard, but I don't see why it wouldn't. OpenKneeboard is a free app, and there is a free, non-subscription option for iOverlay, so I would say, give it a go, and let me know how you got on.

I take it you replace the default iracing blackboxes with these ?

You can do, or you can use the blackboxes for whatever you feel works for you (like tuning the FFB, which I don't think is anywhere in these overlays), and combine it with the iOvleray stuff. Choice is yours.

I am afraid I don't know as I haven't tried it, but I think that iOverlay is specific to iRacing. However, they do have their own discord channel, might be worth popping in there and asking.
