I like the idea of the piece taking place in a rehearsal room.

Thanks for mentioning that I think that's what intrigued me as well as the make believe of the characters -- I also like his dancing - but Danny is correct there is very little Fokine in this -- still...................

they are beautiful. don't understand why they are not "fokine" enough. the idea of the piece - the remembering of the ball night through the sent of the rose - is fully in their dancing. of course - without the costumes and the interior it's something different. but - they are much better than others: fluently, airily, dreamfully.... as far as isabelle's fokine"s cooperations are concernered: she worked with Andris Liepa. Other restaurations are made without her. For example in Grand Opera they dance according to Lifar and Dolin. i suppose so did Nureyev and Baryshnikov....

Andris Liepa - hmmm - I think I have his Spectre - I was not impressed -- They are unique - and since it was done for a film and he is playing a character -- it is hard to know what is "really" happening -- as I said I like them and especially him whoever he is.....he is on FB maybe I'll ask him?????

Well it's an misunderstanding: Isabelle Fokine worked with Andris Liepa when HE was restauring the ballets of Fokine : "The Fire Bird", "The Shecherazade" , "Les Sylphides" for his project "Les Ballets Russes" of the 21th centure. What he is dancing with Anna Pliseckaya is a creature of the Kirovsky Theater - a rather unusual - with this Silphiyde lifts - and funny arms. I don't know who made it there and then. His father - the great Andris LIepa - had a dream of dancing "Le spectre" and worked on it a lot of years. The result is HIS dancing. But it is quite different from what Andris and this odd person of Anna Pliseckaya are dancning in Mariinsky

I support young dancers trying famous pieces. But, let me see some correct style, nuances, has this boy studied the famous nijiinsky photos? Very little Fokine here, if you're going for it, then do the steps. I once went to a Russian recital in Brighton beach Brooklyn aka little Russia, they performed Les Sylphides or Chopiniana as it's known in Russia, the students did all the original choreographed steps with plentiful sweat on their faces. It was glorious. They were no older than 11yrs.old. I congratulated them.

I am not sure this was meant to be taken seriously -- I found it intriguing - its been sitting on my HD for months while I tried to make up my mushy mind to post it - I do like it but .. I am not sure it is a piece on which to judge the, at least male, dancer - he is playing a role in a film -- I don't know....as to "do the steps" is there film or notation for this?? (genuine question here no argument intended) or just still photos??

judith booth All Fokine repertoire is noted and on the record by his granddaughter Isabelle Fokine. Including, the dying swan, often diluted to accommodate idiosyncrasies of individuals.

The "mockumentary" that this is taken from was made in Beunos Argentina - I have no idea - oops I just went to google which sent me to Priettos's FB page apparently he was a modern dancer and she must dance somewhere in Argentina -- all I know right now - sorry

It's from "Avenida Corrientes" which has considerable amount of multimedia in it. It'a cracking show and was last performed 2 years ago at Festival des Borealsin Caen, Normany, France. Have a look here www.winterguests.com for more info.
