I'm glad I got to hear this. It's always been just about my favorite melody in the show.

It's what I do. Teaching and performing music has been my life for the past 40+ years. I enjoy all facets, genres and performances-especially quality songs like this one and this very special performer.

In Miss Saigon, instead of "Too Much for One Heart", the melody was kept and the lyrics were changed and it became a duet "Please", between Kim and John.

What a melody!

I think growling is an exaggeration. The song transitions from C and ends in D major and she has the mjority of the important notes in her tessatura (A- fourth line D. Very strong song which should have been [part of the show. I see snippets of this (harmonically speaking) in I Dreamed a dream from same composers in Les Miz.

@mia976 I agree. What would have been a wicked surprise for the audience is if this was sung as sort of an encore after the cast has finished its bow at the end of the performance. We hear the melody throughout the evening, just let us hear the song and stop teasing us! lol

@lilithmoon1979 yea the melody is the same for the song "please" in act two sung between kim and john
@nasugbubatangas12 жыл бұрын
The music is the same as "PLEASE". But honestly, i don't think they would take a song because it has the same music. Consider "OH WHAT CIRCUS" and "DON'T CRY FOR ME ARGENTINA". Also, "COME TO ME" and "ON MY OWN". Of course, we said "theme" we mean the theme of the lyrics. So, the message of the song is the same as "I'D GIVE MY LIFE FOR YOU". So, they decided to chage the lyrics. And it became "PLEASE". :D

it has the same theme as "I'D GIVE MY LIFE FOR YOU". So one of the two must be taken off the list :D

@lilithmoon1979 It might have been but schönberg often use the same musical themes/melodies... For example in les mis one day more and who am I? have basically the same melody.. So my guess is they were probably both in the original but this one was taken out

if your idea of real music is orchestra, text book voices, intelligent notes and class..then i think i know what real music is because my grandparents fall to those aforementioned categories. though i know lea as fantine in les mes, i find lea´s song here as boring....
