Listen to the way she pronounces "Santa Maria". It's the little details like that which make all the difference between a really good singer/actor and a really great one.

To everyone who wondering about the change of "bullshit" to "nonsense" it's because this was from The Broadway "Concert. Not only was this aired on TV, it was also because there were kids in the audience.

This is the best performance of this song ever! Has Lea ever played this role? I really think it would be PERFECT for her.

The inimitable Lea Salonga strikes again ... Brava! (though I agree that substituting for "bullshit" is "bullshit" -- am guessing it was venue-related, possibly for TV?).

I'm surprised how this one turned out. She did Fantastic, but i felt that "non sense" line instead of "bull shit" felt really really tamed. I guess majority of Filipinos viewers at that time were still a bit more conservative about expressive remarks. FYI, her most recent interview in the Philippines on a late night talk show had to bleep her for saying "bitch"... SUPER LAME!!

i hate when people laugh at the end of this song. It's not supposed to be funny. :(
@jessicaleser88227 жыл бұрын
it is supposed to be sad, not funny. this teacher hurt her to such a degree that she can't feel saddened at his passing and her inability to feel that sorrow is what makes her cry at the end.
@chorvachenez91476 жыл бұрын
i have seen a copy of the video of the original broadway production, and on the song where Diana sang " ...and I dug right down to the bottom of my soul and cried..." you could hear the giggles from the audience like they already anticipate that she will say she "felt nothing". Diana said after the song " I didnt want him to die or anything but..." then the scene was cut. I also laughed a bit when I first saw this but for me it's just a scene that explains what apathy is and I think people who find this funny are not mean people.
