I met Dave at a Charvel Clinic, and he is the Real Deal. He is a Genuinely Good Guy and an Awesome Musician. I've Never met Anyone so Positive and Enthusiastic about the Guitar. It's People like Dave that make me want to be a better player. Anyway, enough "Dave" worship for today, I gotta Practice.

I found this video sometime ago and put it to one side to be watched later. I have just watched it and realised, I wished I had watched it immediately. I have been working on some Tony Iommi solo's lately particularly NIB and he uses some very similar ideas. Thanks very much for the video. it's crazy how you can take a basic lick and make it a great lick or change it completely just by adding a couple of notes. Thanks for this I wouldn't have done it unless someone had suggested it.

So I have been able to improvise for about a year, and about 6 months in, my sound sort of stopped progressing. My technique and speed improved, but while I impress most people i play for, and I sound better than most of my guitar playing friends, with actually bending to another note and whatnot, but I sound bland. I know the pentatonic, blues and harmonic minor scale. I just feel that whatever I do, it sounds the same

I believe positions are referred to as frets, so do you mean the "1st shape" as in the root note starting on the 6th string, then the "2nd shape" referring to the 3rd pitch of the scale in your D Min Pentatonic shape starting in the 10th position (shape 1)...this would make more sense and even though you are in D Minor, the "second shape" because it starts on the F, is actually F Maj Pentatonic...this can become confusing for beginners...just trying gather what you are teaching, thanks.
