Leading your mule - how do you get your mule to follow, stop, start, turn, and basically follow where you lead them? It’s all in how you communicate.
The Come-A-Long Rope is your tool to communicating with the mule in the language they understand: Comfortable, uncomfortable. Using the come-a-long hitch, the mule learns to pick up on the cues you send to their nose using your hands. The pressure applied in specific directions will communicate to your mule exactly what you want.
You don’t need a trainer to come out and spend time with your animal - you can do it yourself and the Come-A-Long Rope puts you in control. When you apply the ask, tell, demand method properly, you not only communicate what you want the mule the do, but you become the herd leader in the process.
This all combines to create a strong foundation and establish you as the leader. If you can’t lead your mule on the ground, you’ll never lead your mule from the saddle - and that is a dangerous proposition.
In this video Steve Edwards from Queen Valley Mule Ranch will show you, in real time, how to use the Come-A-Long Rope to lead your mule (or donkey) and how to utilize the proper handling of your end of the rope to communicate. Watch him build a foundation and then go out and try it yourself!
