Lead Solo pilot of the 2024 Snowbirds Air Demonstration Team of the Royal Canadian Air Force

We are privileged to chat with Capt. Marc Andre-Plante, the Lead Solo pilot for the 2024 Snowbirds Air Demonstration Team (431 Air Demonstration Squadron) of the Royal Canadian Air Force when the team was training for the 2024 Air show season at CFB Comox in British Columbia.
Capt Plante joined the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) in 2011 under the Regular Officer Training Plan, graduating from the Royal Military College of Canada in 2015 with a bachelor’s degree in Aeronautical Engineering.
Upon arriving at 15 Wing Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, Capt Plante earned his wings in 2016, flying on the CT-156 Harvard II and the CT-155 Hawk. He was then assigned to the 2 Canadian Forces Flight Training School as an instructor on the Harvard II where he earned his A Category instructional rating and became an instructor at the Flight Instructor School.
Capt Plante joined the Canadian Forces Snowbirds in 2021 as Snowbird 2 flying in the Inner Right Wing position. This year he flies as Snowbird 8 in the Lead Solo position. He brings over 2,000 hours of military flying experience in ejection seat aircraft to the team.
Serving as ambassadors of the CAF, the Snowbirds demonstrate the high level of skill, professionalism, teamwork, discipline and dedication inherent in the men and women of the CAF and they inspire the pursuit of excellence wherever they go.
The Snowbirds fly the CT-114 Tutor, which was the primary jet trainer for the Royal Canadian Air Force until 2000. The Tutors flown by the Snowbirds are slightly modified for show features and enhanced performance during low-level aerobatic flying.
We look forward to seeing the Snowbirds perform all over Canada and in the United States for the 2024 air show season, which also happens to be the 100th Anniversary of the Royal Canadian Air Force.

@@goboldwithjoeteyattariwala I fell in love with the RCN after seeing HMCS Haida in Toronto Harbour as a child. That was 63 or 64 I think. I was about 7 or 8.
