@@creepywhiteguy3621 The owner said it passed their tests even without the secondary lock engaged. So I would not worry for it, except if you do something extremely stupid. Cold Steel number 1 priority is to make strong locks so you don't loose your fingers, which is why I like them..

That Bush Ranger is good looking. I like what Cold Steel has done with their knives recently. A knife ricasso is the part of the "blade" between the handle and the start of the edge grind.

I have both and use the lite more often only because I’m afraid of losing the expensive one I really like the pivot lock on it and use it all the time I got the lite 5 years ago and the other two years ago Ether one make an excellent backup, I always have a fixed blade when I’m out in the woods As far as quality the lite never let me down and will give you years of service, the original is great but not worth $100 more Not that it’s bad, it’s just that the lite is so good

Bought the bush ranger lite a few weeks ago. Haven't used it much but I really like it! The rocker lock or whatever you called it is kind of annoying, especially with the rattle. Also I found when the lock was engaged (at least on mine) I could give it a couple hard shakes and it would slide back out of the locked position. Tried tightening it and it helped, but I could still do it. Maybe this wouldn't be a problem in actuality but I just tightened it down all the way and now it doesn't slide but it also doesn't rattle lol. Great video!

They should have put the Tri Ad-Lock on it as well. Maybe demand 10 bucks extra for it, but you don't have that fuss.

Thank u for the compariaon video, these have been on my radar. I will probably go with the Bush Ranger Lite, as I was not a fan of the square thumb plate on the CS Immortal I had before. It was very uncomfortable.
@davidkurle54185 жыл бұрын
I think I will get the lite, I like the thumb studs and the shape of the clip point a little better than the expensive one. Plus the handle material reminds me of my finn wolf, and I LOVE my finn wolf. And I have never had a problem with the budget steels that cold steel uses, as long as I touch them up every day. I've got a prolite in 4116 that I thrash the heck out of and it never has any issues. Only cost about $20 and I carry it quite often. But if people need or want premium materials, I'm not going to bash the expensive one.

I would have preferred AUS-10 for an extra $20 or so for the Lite. I assume they didn't want it to have to compete with the Large Voyager though. If they still use 4116, that would have been a nice compromise perhaps. Cool knife either way.

Great video was hoping for a budget bush ranger, How does the bush ranger lite compare to the cut jack ?
@gideonstactical5 жыл бұрын
rhys b very different knives. cut jack has better steel, is slimmer, lighter weight, and not as strong. The Ranger Light is heavier, thicker, stronger and has lower quality steel.
@barrybueler33565 жыл бұрын
Definitely like the original heavier one G10 beats up FRN when we’re not looking. Giving up g10 for FRN for weight and it’s still 5oz not worth it unless you can’t spare the extra cash but for weight anything 5oz and up are to heavy for summer shorts which is the only reason I carry lighter knives and pocket space which doesn’t matter here the light actually looks a hair bigger in the pocket.I do like those clips my favorite clip is the new deep carry clip from Benchmade they use on there bugout or bailout love it and spyderco’s wire clip love it 🥰.

Thanks for the great review! You just earned yourself a follower. I'm into buying my second knife (I have one of the ~$30 orange/gray Gerber knives with the serrated blade and I'm not that happy with it) and the Bush Ranger lite looks like a good outdoor option for under $50. I was originally thinking about Finn Wolf but the Bush one seems more suitable for EDC. I'm also looking at Spyderco but not many good options in that price range. Btw is it just me or does it look like the lite version cuts better through the rope and plastic than the "original" one? Seems smoother without applying much force.
@jeanbabtisteclamence30185 жыл бұрын

Dont You "feel" that : - inner metallic liner in the handle would have been better (and not just overkill) ? - + Dark finish of blade The Handle thickness could easely incirporate smart tools (like or better then by Victorinox..). I think it would make it a sales hit - at least make it really known. I feel challenged to envisage to customise all the above myself - that is a good sign to myself that the Bush Ranger is my thing (my mini Recon 1 and ak47 are just no good for (long) straining wood-(or diverse) work.

I have the AK-47 from cold steel it is a real tuff knife but I ended up hating the handle real long and thin g10 that feels like FRN maybe it is. Looked hard at cold steel cause of the insanely strong locking system wanted one with good g10 handles steel liners with a wider normal handle . My pick is going torwards the AD-10 from cold steel tough as nails thicker handle and shorter without going crazy but fairly perfect. Steel liners s35vn steel which is considered a premium steel and one of the top premium steels in all around use from what I’ve seen and with the strongest lock in any production knife . Ive ever seen on top of that. So please donate to my new knife fund🤡.

I purchased a Cold Steel Bush Ranger recently 4/7/21 from Knife Center in the S35VN. To my dismay could not close the the triad lock after opening the knife. Returned it thinking it was a defect. Knife Centers customer service called to inform me that all the knives they had were extremely difficult to close. That after a while the might break in. I asked for a refund. So if this is the quality control post Lynn Thompson’s sell off, Cold Steel has lost one of their major fans. Buyer beware. I would be interested if anyone else had the same experience.

American knife reviews always cause me pain when you talk about the price. The Bush Ranger Lite for $30? That's a total bargain. Here in the UK, it's about £42, so that's around $50. The premium Bush Ranger is £170, so well over $200. Why do we always get ripped off in Europe?

The S35VN does not justify the x3 price of the Bush Ranger original. It only adds about $4 to the actual cost of materials and manufacturing. It will cut about x2 longer than 8Cr13MoV, and it is less likely to snap, but it is not worth paying that profit margin.
