Im 72, retired US Army. You go young blood, you Go! You have the fire, now you need to feed it. Attitude is key, fortitude is the way. Whatever you do, give it your all. Very glad the band responded and extended their hands to you. That was really cool. God bless you young man.

I'm 72 also, DITTO! What the Michigan Marching Band did To and FOR Henry was BRILLIANT. At the age of 13, my local Gardner, MASS. Drum and Bugle Corps, THE SIMPLEX MINUTEMEN, provided me, from their large ( Gardner, Simplex Time Recorder, Company) rehearsal/marching parking lot, behind my house no less! with the fire in my blood to pursue, my Drum Corps Membership at age 15 as a, ironically drumming Trainee. From 1965-1972, I had the time of my life with my Simplex Minutemen Corpsmates, traveling, marching and performing locally, regionally including the 1970 Miss America Pageant Parade in Atlantic City, NJ representing Miss "Massachusetts" and touring nationally through a good portion of the USA including NYC, and in a 1971 tour, parade and concert performances at the "Gold Cup Festival in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, Canada, with a 1967 Nine-day Cruise from NYC to Parade, with concert performances in Bermuda and Nassau. I have maintain my lifelong active interest in the Drum Corps Competitive Activity to this day, with DCI'S World Class Corps, THE ACADEMY of Tempe, Arizona since 2004 whom I toured with through 2016, now retired continue to enjoy from afar to this day. GO HENRY! May your many hours of Dedicated Hard Work and Piano/Drumming lessons see you Follow Your Dream, to Suit Up and march with Pride with Michigan Marching Band and continue your musical journey beyond. I AM SO PROUD OF YOU, HENRY BOYER and CBS's "On The Road" Brilliant reporting of David Hartman, SALUTE! (The David Hartman Effect, INDEED!)

I am from Ohio. I don’t care about football, I am a band person. This makes me tear up. Follow your dreams, Henry! Practice those drums! The Marching Wolverines will be blessed to have such a dedicated young man someday!

I know! I started tearing up just reading the description of this video before I watched it. I guess I should call it The Hartman Effect. 😥 What a lucky journalist he is to get to specialize in these feel-good stories. As a retired journalist, I can tell you that most in the field aren't so fortunate, which is why it's consistently listed as one of the top 5 worst jobs in the country. UPDATE: Okay, I made it a full 1 minute and 15 seconds into the video before the tears started full-on leaking out of my eyes. Dang you, Hartman Effect! 😂

I was a stick (clarinet player) in the MMB from 1997-1999. Henry, it’s everything you could ever imagine it’ll be. Hope to take the field with you one day in the Alumni Band. It’s great to be a Michigan Wolverine! 💛💙
