Qin Shihuang was born in 259 BC. Emperor Yongle was born in 1360. During this period, there have been numerous dynasty changes. The heavy sense of history is exciting.

She jailed and poisoned reforming Guangxu Emperor, she refused to reform China except for its military, she signed so many unequal treaties which made China lost much of its territories, she embezzled the funds of Beiyang fleet to built a new summer palace and celebrated her birthday, and she made child Puyi to be an Emperor so she can ruled behind his throne.

Kublai's ability was based on getting eurekas and inspirations from trade routes, that would leave a lot open to do. My question is how to differentiate himself from Portugal, who has like 3 different trade-based abilities. Maybe it's actually an exploration/combat based ability, like he gets Treasure Boats, an unique upgraded Caravel that is unlocked slightly earlier and is stronger?

I imagine he'll maybe have one ability which, from what I gather from folks talking, will be foreign trade--maybe with Allies? Having a China focused on diplomacy and trade may be fun, especially if Qin is going to be more military focused.

The Yongle emperor is a ruthless ruler due the way he ascended to the throne (overthrowing his predecessor) as he had to legitimize his mandate. I was expecting a scary hostile vibe from him not a kind wise old man vibe

From Yongle's intro and voiceline I think his kit will be geared toward Science and Diplomacy, which is historically accurate since he commissioned Zheng He (a Great Merchant in the game) to explore the sea. This led to more developed international trades, increased welfare and boosted technology.

His 5 campaigns were all personally led and never lost a battle he almost destroyed the yuan which is why the oriat were able to take over because mongolias armies were all destroyed

i think that his ability is probably that he gets bonuses to international trade routes, but not when HE trades with others, it's when OTHERS trade with HIM. he may also have naval bonuses since he sponsored zheng he's voyages, but that seems less likely to me.

Probably defensive bonuses since he drove Mongolian back north and took Manchuria. Trade bonuses for one and probably wonder bonuses since he built the Forbidden City and the Ming Great Wall

You know I do appreciate they have 3 leaders for China and included one of the competent Chinese emperor historically (Yongle). They probably just want to include a female in spite of her being much less competent than the likes of Tang Taizong or Han Wudi. Both of which has yet to appear in a civ game.

Wuzetian is unique in history bc she was the only one that actually was a true Emperor of China and not an Empress with power. She and her advisors were also very competent and the empire prospered and expanded far. It's just a bit difficult to compare bc Tang Taizong was likely the best Emperor in all of China's history. Wuzetian was however also one of the best, and especially unique emperor.

And yes she is special as a woman bc she turned from concubine, Empress to actual Emperor. The only one in the entire 4 millenia of China. She even had the power to change the name of the Dynasty to Zhou instead of Tang. Not even other emperors would have that power except for very few.
