Did a bunch of work up there doing some electrical on an old mine being repurposed. Can't imagine living there through the winter. Brutal. Top of the world it feels like.

Going to Leadville, at 10,150 ft, is a great Exercise Tolerance Test, without exercise. People with normal heart and lungs, sitting there without exercise, have a SaO2 (blood oxygen saturation) in the low 60's. Normal at sea level is 95-100. A SaO2 < 60 can lead to immediate physiological changes that can at least be uncomfortable, including Altitude Sickness, a feeling of malaise, tiredness, headache, nausea, confusion, discoordination, etc. The least exercise can exacerbate whatever problem you may have. Once when I was at the top of Pikes' Peak, above 14,000 ft, a 9 year old boy was excited to be there so he tried to run across the Gift Shop. Every time he tried he would crash to the floor unconscious for a minute. He woke up confused and tried to continue his run. He ended up passing out three times until after the third time I told him to quit running. Then he was OK. I tried camping at Wye Campground near Colorado Springs, which is about 8500 ft. My 4 year old son came down with Altitude Sickness and we had to descend to Colorado Springs to camp. At that altitude he was fine.

It hasn't been a problem for us. Yes we will get winded when we do a hike but it's normal.
@spaceboundlad26224 жыл бұрын
Wow. That's some great information. But is having that low sao2 bad for you? Like even for people living there?
@BuickDoc4 жыл бұрын
@@spaceboundlad2622 The people living there compensate physiologically so they can tolerate higher levels of activity. In the Andes mountains in South America there are villages at 14,000 ft or greater. Pregnant women have to spend their last trimester at lower altitudes or they will abort or have stillbirths.

Thanks for the trip through Leadville. A pizza recommended by you two travels, must be good. Both of you seem to be coping well with the higher elevations. Your truck engine does not seem to mind it either. On to the next one.

I think, if i'm not mistaken, Leadville is the highest city in elevation in the USA.
@DeanJohnson674 жыл бұрын
they say highest incorporated city .... though Alma is higher @ 10,578 feet (about an hour drive over Mosquito pass) -- That said I much prefer Leadville myself!

I recently joined your channel and have been watching your videos. I searched thru your past videos but can’t come across any where you go thru the pros and cons of your RV. Did you make one? I also love the Honda Monkey you purchased, there’s a video on KZbin you may want to see from “chaparral Motorsports” where a $7 upgrade can drastically improve it by simply changing gear sprocket to a smaller size (14T). Keep the videos coming! 👍

If you're still on the road out West...enjoy! Sally isn't the worst 'cane, but still a 'cane....it's pretty interseting here (Navarre)...wind and rain....lot of flooding.

One of my pet peeves as well. That music in that place would have been wonderful had they just backed off the volume a bit. That pizza did look good.

I am wondering seeing you guys drink and drive: whats the limit for DUI in the US? Or is it handled on the state level?
@stephenwoods41184 жыл бұрын
0.08% although it's handled at the State level it's mandated by the Federal Government. Given their sizes and the smallness of the beers, and the time elapsed they were most probably safe.
