@lukas lukas majors don't carry leaves in real life they protect the lines of workers so baron should really have them in thier own separate group on no collect leaves so they can protect from trapjaws,devils coach horse and harvestmen spiders.I have my workers on collect only no attack medias on collect food but attack if sees an enemy and majors on no collect leaves just attack and protect the workers.

When I start a new colony I always separate the queen/brood chambers from the nest entrance with a long winding tunnel. Whenever enemies invade the nest they always head for the queen, so the idea is to create kind of gauntlet or choke point to slow the invasion as long as possible while your ants recover their numbers and send reinforcements.

Minor Worker ants are cost effective gatherers in smaller colonies, and each minor nursery tile spawns an extra minim worker. At higher populations their low carry capacity and carry speed hurts them due to the limited number of ants that can harvest a plant at a time. They are terrible combatants. Media solders are more efficient at gathering simply due to higher carry capacity and speed, but require an upfront cost so are not effective to focus without a standing worker force. They have more hp, bonus armor and armor piercing and are much more effective at fighting smaller creatures that can't one shot. Majors are super expensive and gather as fast as media so they are not cost effective gatherers, but Majors are immune to most one-shots (except the finger of death), they have high HP and resist high damage attacks (ex. if an uber does 1000 damage to a Major, Majors caps the damage taken to 20) so they are very effective against spiders and mantis and generally heavy hitters that are bigger than it. But they are not cost effective against many weak attacks, like getting swarmed by smaller creatures like ants.

Leaf cutter ants don’t eat the mold on the leaves, although it does look that way, they actually farm and breed a specific fungus, which consumes the leaves and is grown, placed and molded into shape by the ants. In return the fungi grow little pods of a sugary-nectar like substance. Thats my understanding anyway, i’m not an expert and would love to learn some more about leaf-cutters if my fellow commenters would oblige.

just a tip: in this game, leaf cutter workers are quite ineffective at gathering leaves. They cut much smaller pieces and get slowed when carrying leaves. They are most effectively used to get the first few leaves in, but once you have around 20 workers, just build media and majors (I recommend about a 7:1 ratio.) While one major is a better gatherer than one media, for their cost, they are less effective at gathering. It is best to make a trail of media and majors and allow them to gather together (and naturally these trails will be well defended by the majors).

I want other ant colonies like a skimirsh mode. There are 3 other nests on this map but when u start to play there are no other colonies.

Yeah, the "colonies" in freeplay are just simple spawn points for other ants. I remember that one mission where you're a leaf cutter colony competing against other leaf cutters to find the most leaves, and it actually gives you the option to invade the other nest if you wanted. Of course you can only do this if you've cleared away the leaves before they can, otherwise you'll get slaughtered by their superior numbers. I've managed to kill their queen a couple of times though. I hope this ability comes to freeplay in a future update.
