To my mind, the best work by Walker is her full (very full) novel The Secret Service: about a spy ring that learns to transform themselves into objects like a crystal goblet or a rose. You feel that you know exactly what it is like to be these things.

I wrote this before I fully watched your review of Wendy Walker's "Stories Out of Omarie", in fact as I look I'd allow just ten seconds to elapse as I pressed pause, mainly due to the message that I had to relay was and is of such great and vast importance that ten seconds is as about, as long as my patients would sanction(that last part has a brilliant redundancy to it, that its as if it's almost magical; "is as about")it, so here's to your.................drumroll please.......Your bookshelf! The only single word I can submit is "Wow"! In the beginning your opening has a wonderful, what sounds like a three piece band propounding fantastically rich and subtly textured jazz, which I've found of such beatific resonance that to embellish upon it by labeling my mindset from its influence writing that I was enchanted would undercut its musical abilities, in such a harmful manner as if I were saying that a nuclear winter would "suck" by hindering what I had planned for that day. Dam! I truly forgot where I was going with this? Nevertheless, I'd like to give props where they are due and eyeballing your massive bookshelf, seeing countless books I know by color, size and shape, I would love to sit in your reading room for just a few days enjoying its wonderful ambiance directly, while reading..........now this is going to take just a minute.........by reading maybe "Man without qualities", all three volumes, again I digress. Here's to you my reading friend, your KZbin channel as well your bookshelf are of great inspiration for me, keeps me aspiring as a writer and lover of fantastic literature as well. Please keep pushing forwards in your quest in reading as well I know that your an aspiring writer in your own right. Until next time "au revoir"!

I hope one day we will get to hear your extended thoughts on Dostoyevsky. Specifically Brothers Karamazov please. 🙏
@LeafbyLeaf5 ай бұрын
Yes, yes, I did slightly include Brothers K in my 10 Big Books I Love Part 2, but I do understand that this is not enough. There are many glaring omissions on this channel: Dostoyevsky, Faulkner, Melville, Woolf. All in due time!
