Every single player has the option to mute chat of every kind from text to emotes and pings. @@TheRelicOfOwls This is too far the other way. Theres some awful things said in chat that you should never say to anyone, and if you werent behind a screen you wouldnt say to anyone. But the current system has come full circle. Chat is added in the beginning to be able to communicate. Pings were added later on to be able to communicate faster. Now chat is usually silent unless youre toxic because youre worried someone will take something the wrong way and youll be wasting time or youll say something completely normal and get banned for it. The other end is youre being toxic and chat anyway. Pings are getting removed and limited making a game that is ENTIRELY ABOUT TEAM PLAY, INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION, considerably shitter.

I have been, for many seasons now, convinced that at least half of RIOT's mid/high level employees are actually moles for other companies that are trying to actively sabotage RIOT Games. Given the now increasing frequency of needless self-sabotage (the endless chat restriction mess being a bigger one), it seems to me that those employees now have reasonably strong control of what happens within RIOT. Hopefully those at the very very top will realize what is going on and replace literally every mid/high level employee they have. Otherwise I am not sure what becomes of LoL in these next 2 years. It's been quite a long time already reports and chat flags have been handled by bots by default. To get a human to check your case you'll need to submit a ticket to support, which will first be reviewed by an other bot, and it's only then that you can ask for a human to read your issue.

I think the word I said was "Mate" which in the context of the convo was like buddy but if you wanted to be weird "mate" has the synonym for "breed" which I think is why. I've also notice you can use the bad words but if someone spam reports you from the other team, even if you didn't say anything in all chat, but you said a no no word in team chat, boom still banned, doesn't make sense. Anyways I've got a good round about for it which is just use mad up words/ slang that people can use context to derive the meaning of to insult people. Examples: "I'm going to come over the and tickle you under your toenails if you don't stop being so fluffable.", "Top lane really looks like he likes eating out blue waffles", or "Enemy sup got a fatter gap then my yuumi plushies fun hole"

As for chat restrictions, Riot is tackling toxicity by focusing on the consequence rather than source of it. A lot of people are not toxic but when you put it in all that time in the game and keep getting unpunished REAL inters, of course frustration takes place.

I full stopped playing league specifically because of the horrendous chat restrictions. I was restricted for almost 60 days straight because I got reported by a premade group, and then during honor level zero I made the horrible mistake of trying to shot call in low elo. Too many people rage report for nothing and if your honor is low enough it just resets your restriction. I had report pop ups where there were no chat logs and the game ID was just a question mark. Wild stuff.

I think all this chat and ping restrictions since S13 maybe could have made the toxicity even worse. People have just gone more creative in how to show themselves being mad. I would even go that far that things like not being able to ping one more time often makes you become more toxic because you cant impact some important situations with pings anymore. For me pinging is my bread and butter because I mind using chat in Emerald elo, its prefered usage is to flame.

What´s even worse is the fact that "Dirk" is also a possible prename in Germany. Imagine someone asks you politely "Hey, what´s your name? My name is [[ insert name ]]!" and you answer politely "Hi ^^ My name is Dirk" and you get BANNED for that... Soon we will be banned when typing champ names. Why? If you spell "Nasus", the "sus" indicates that the Nasus player is a betrayer. The system recognizes it as an insult hence turning therefor into a ban.

It's a boilerplate copy and paste response. They don't read it and confirm. They're told by their boss that the system works, they have a lot of tickets and need to keep them moving. I've had to deal with this before. Sent in a ticket, got that response. My trick was telling them I had aspergers, and I *literally needed them to explain to me what was wrong about what I had said,* which prompted them to actually read the log, and remove the punishment because I had said nothing wrong.

The worst part about the chat ban fiasco is that it's largely due to another problem that Riot not just ignores but actively encourages: smurfing. See, in real life, people don't act like toxic pieces of trash (like they do in League) because of two different things: reputation, and actual penalties for individual infractions. Reputation is "memory" - if you repeatedly cuss people out for no reason, other people around you will start notice and shunning you. And, you could actually be fined, penalized by your school, fired for your job, etc (the non-reputational direct punishment). In League, neither of those things exist. There's no "reputation" in the sense that you very rarely interact with the same person repeatedly - but, more importantly, there's no reputation attached to *you as a person* for how well or poorly behaved you are - because if you get a chat ban, you can just create a new account. And, there's no direct penalties, because the most that Riot does is hand out chat bans - and most people don't really care about those. The only thing that many players actually care about is skins - and Riot *very* rarely actually bans accounts (thereby taking away skins and ACTUALLY giving out a punishment) for "mere" chat infractions. Furthermore, because people can (and do) create accounts all the time, it makes it much harder for Riot to *properly* moderate chat logs. Sure, there's no excuse for using automated systems - that's just them being scummy - but it would be a heck of a lot easier for their staff to take their time and carefully investigate both chat AND inting reports, if a single person's history followed them around and couldn't be dodged just by creating a new account. If Riot cared about the League community, they'd reduce smurfing, inting, griefing, and flaming by 90% by designing a system meant to make the process of creating multiple accounts per person as hard as possible. That could be a phone number required to play ranked (like what Valve does for Dota, and as a Dota player - it works), or physical address verification, or an account creation fee so that creating new accounts actually costs *money* instead of being free - or something else entirely. But they need to do *something* - as it stands, they're not even trying.

I only said 1 sentence before a game ended, "that was a fun game!", few minutes later on queue I got the notification that my chat was restricted and my honor drop to 0 for being toxic... ._. like wtf, luckily I was able to send a ticket back and they put my things back. but that was horrifying I almost lost my rewards for this stupid system.

All the while back in the times of Tribunal I got banned for a week (back then there were no chat restrictions/bans) and had my honors removed. My ticket consisted of the following chat logs and I quote: "" To spoil the joke, the chat log was completely empty, because I literally didn't say a thing in either of the two matches provided (which is also funny, because as far as I was aware of how the Tribunal worked, there should've been chat logs from three matches, not two). Now, I was found guilty, because the Tribunal cases were decided by players and 99% of cases were instant "guilty", due to Riot's earlier way of incentivising participation by providing RP for... finding people guilty regardless of actual validity of the case. So even all the way back in season 3 the whole system was screwed up. Then came the first version of chat restrictions and the day they rolled out... I've been chat restricted for 18 months without breaks. The length of my chat restriction would change each time I logged in and sometimes even between games. Didn't matter if I actually chatted and if I chatted, it didn't matter what I wrote. I was actually doing themed chat restrictions, like "This time I'll chat as normal" or "This time I'll only ever say positive and encouraging things". In case you're wondering the "kind" chatting was done over a 100 or so matches of a single chat restriction and when that was nearing the end I got a 300 or so games worth of chat restriction. The system stopped false-flagging me only some half a year before Riot Lyte (the moron who was in charge of the system) actually went out of his way and... wiped all the records. Almost makes you think he knew his system was absolutely broken from the start. Then they reworked honor system and from a guy who had all the old Honor ribbons (yes, even the Mentor one) I've been unable to ever reach Honor level 3. In fact once I got my first chat restriction in this system, I was never unable to even get back to level 2, since the Honor below level 2 gets reset at the end of the season and for some inexplicable reason I'd always be one checkpoint short to level 2 by the end of it. In the end, I just typed the N-word a dozen times in the post-game lobby (which by that time was already opt-in only and you had to switch to a tab in the post-game screen to even be able to opt-in) to get myself a permaban, because I couldn't trust myself to just uninstall the game.
