In the beginning, when it seems like she and the environment turned purple, it was actually her charming the boys to follow her so that they will leave the injured armored girl alone. Charming is actually one of her abilities in the game. Sure enough, Leona(armored girl) recovered. If Ahri(fox girl) didn't led them(bad guys) away, they could've finished Leona off.

It's always so fun watching people really discover the amazingness that is Riot's cinematics. This one was sort of themed like an actual game of League. With 2 teams of 5 with each person filling one of the meta roles on their team, and is one of the early ones from Riot. This, along with the A Twist of Fate cinematic (which I would HIGHLY recommend as your next one for League btw) were the first of what I like to call the modern visual era of Riot. The older ones were more just trying to demonstrate the game itself. But this one, along with A Twist of Fate, was the real pivot point of Riot telling stories with their cinematics. As for the characters, in order of appearance: The one in gold and purple is Leona (she's in a cinematic or two later). The fox woman is Ahri. You'll probably get tired of seeing her in cinematics XD The nimble redhead is Katarina (she shows up in another cinematic as well). The guy you thought was Sylas is Draven. He was the one watching, and then fighting Riven in the arena with the spinning throwing blades in the Awaken cinematic. The guy with him is Darius (you'll see more of him later as well). The plant woman is Zyra. The lion guy is Rengar. The guy with the shotgun is Graves (he's in several other cinematics later) The guy with the lamp post is Jax. And the big guy with the anchor is Nautalus.

Like I said in response to your poll on Sunday, A New Dawn isn't canonical to the story as far as we are aware. It's more intended to be a representation of the gameplay of League of Legends. In League, there are two teams of five players each, and each player on the team fills a particular role, defined by where on the map the player primarily is in the early game: top, jungle, mid, bot, and support. The top role tends to be defined by self-sufficient champions who serve as their team's frontline. The Jungle role's job is to take the smite summoner spell and clear jungle camps while jumping into the other teammate's positions to provide backup. The mid role is where mages and assassins tend to be found, their job is to kill their lane opponent then roam the map and try to snowball their lead. The bot and support champions work together as a duo at the bottom of the map: the bot player takes a marksman champion and clears minion waves, while the support player takes a support champion and tries to protect their bot player. As for which characters fill which positions: Fox-girl: Ahri, she's a midlane burst mage. Her job is to find and single out a high-priority target in a teamfight, then follow up with a devastating barrage of damage. Shield-lady: Leona, she's a vanguard support champion. Her job is to start fights and allow her teammates a chance to follow up. Red-head: Katarina, a midlane assassin. She has a high-risk high-reward playstyle that encourages you to put yourself in a dangerous position to unload most of her damage. Thankfully, she's got a few defensive tricks up her sleeves to help her avoid focus fire. Axe-man: Darius, a top lane juggernaut. His job is to march down the opposition and draw attention, and he excels at both taking and dealing high amounts of damage. Cooler axe-man: Draven, a botlane marskman. Extremely squishy, but has ridiculously high damage, allowing him to burn through tanks relatively easily. Poison Ivy: Zyra, she belongs to a subclass of support champions known as "Catchers." Her job in a team is to create a zone of control that is extremely dangerous for the enemy team to go near, but Zyra herself is very squishy and can be caught out easily. Shotgun man: Graves, at the time of the cinematic's release, he was a marksman, but since then, he's transitioned to being a specialist. Specialists don't fit into any of the neat categories that Riot uses to define champions, so they get lumped into this category of "everything else." One common trait among specialists is that they have strong area denial abilities, either in the form of a telegraphed zone of control (like Azir's sand soldiers), or have an extremely powerful ability that must be played around (like Cho'Gath's "Feast"). Lion: Rengar, an assassin-diver hybrid played in the Jungle. He shares many of the assassin traits that Katarina has, but trades her defensive tools for being able to blitz towards a target extremely quickly. He isn't as durable as someone like Darius or Leona, but he can be a massive kill threat if left unchecked (also, quick tip if you decide to play League yourself, NEVER facecheck Rengar. People forget this more often than you'd think). Lamppost: Jax, a top lane skirmisher. He lacks the front-loaded burst damage of an assassin, but he has a situationally powerful defensive tool and great sustained damage, allowing him to perform well in extended one-on-one fights. Jaegar: Nautilus, another vanguard tank. He's currently played in the support position a bunch, but at the time of the cinematic, he was more of a jungler. Like Leona, his job is to start fights, but the way they go about it is slightly different. Leona has a ludicrous ability to chain stun enemies, meaning her team doesn't need much crowd control if Leona can consistently land her abilities. However, she has no way of getting out of a fight if she needs to if she messes up the engage. Nautilus' crowd control on the other hand is more reliable, as it's point-and-click, and has better effective range, so while Nautilus doesn't mind whether he comes to you or you to him, Leona actively wants to jump on you to start a fight.

The official website has more information on the champions and their abilities (it is using the old champion classification system, but in general, champion should fall into similar categories): na.leagueoflegends.com/en-us/champions/ If you want to know more about the champion's lore, then the Universe website is the place where all of the lore of the champions and notable non-playable characters like Cithria and Von Yipp are collated. I should give you a heads-up though, some of the lore on universe is outdated because some of these characters (like Cho'Gath and Talon) haven't gotten proper story updates since the extended universe was rebooted in 2014, so these characters are still using using their pre-reboot lore, just without the bits that were retconned out of the universe in 2014. That said, Riot has confirmed that as long as it's on Universe, it is canonical to the game's story, so Cho'Gath and Talon are still canon, their stories are just outdated: universe.leagueoflegends.com/en_US/

At 2:45 Ahri was trying to save Leona, not battle the guys. She has a charming technique that draws enemies to her. When she realized Leona was still alive, she uses her power to get her enemies away from her ally. That's why she runs, instead of fight. She is based upon a korean mythological creature called gumiho (there are more ways to spell it), a nine tailed fox with great powers, a very sensual creature that lures people into their deaths. Ingame, she is the type of character that roams the map and picks enemies out of position, punishing lack of awareness and late rotations to objectives. That's why she runs so much, that's her job: run through the map and look for opportunities of swiftly killing an enemy, as she did with Zyra (the Ivy lady). As for Katarina, the assassin redhead, I think the reason she isn't more aggressive is because the video would be too bloody. Her abilities revolve around magical daggers that rebounds from enemy to enemy as she teleports to collect them. With her ultimate ability, she spins around throwing dozens of daggers everywhere, killing anyone around her. Even this video having a little more blood than most, having Kat be full Kat would be too much.

So excited for more of these videos! The reason this one was different is because this is more so an advertisement of the actual game. The map you is the main map of the game and that big crystal you see at the end is the main objective of the game, basically the enemies base. The other cinematics you've seen so far were more lore oriented and served to fill in details about the characters and their world that we wouldnt see playing the game, which at it's core are battles done in the same single arena

Here is a not so quick rundown of the characters (among suggestions). Gold armoured queen girl is Leona. She is a high ranking fighter among people called Solari. People worshipping sun. She can call upon the sun to help them. Redhead was Katarina. An assassin from Noxus's noble families. Two douchebags were brothers Darius with the axe and Draven (which you have seen in the gladiator arena from Awaken) who wields two spinning axes. Dairus is a big strong fighter for Noxus army and Draven is the glorious executioner. Poison Ivy girl was Zyra. A plant with an evil spirit in control as I remember, I might be wrong. Fox girl with ears and tails is Ahri. She is THE poster girl for League. You are going to see her a lot. She is a Vastaya (Magical animal human hybrids). They could not portray this here very well but when her eyes turned purple she was actually charming the guys to forget about Leona and follow her. Thats why she blowed a purple smoke "kiss" and everything turned grayscale for a moment. The purple man with the lamp post is Jax. A warrior of unknown origin who is so good at wielding every weapon he was challenged or forced to use a lamp post for fighting. The big armoured thing with an anchor is Nautilus. He was left to drown so know he seeks revenge. Double barrel gun guy is Graves. He is a bounty hunter/pirate from Bilgewater. The lion guy is Rengar. Also a vastaya from Ixtal. I believe this is all of them. As usual I can recommend many things. But I believe you might want to see some good music videos from the bands formed from these League Champions(characters). I haven't seen this really anywhere yet while scrolling through the comments after the reaction. So, i wanna give a small explanation as some others have already done a great job at explaining thing. A lot of things shown in here are the abilities of the champions. I'm not gonna cover them all, but the one I wanted to highlight. At 2:45 in the video, Ahri uses her E ability where she charms her opponents. In game it is only a single target ability, but here it seemed to work on both Draven and Darius. Ahri's charm is her main utility spell. It increases her damage done, but can also be used defensively to escape certain scenarios. In the case in the video she used it as an escape tool to make them follow her as she ran away to lead them to the rest of her teammates.

All the running away is actually what you call baiting. Katerina ran to bait the other two into a trap of the two brothers to try and 3 versus 2 them. Ahri ran to lure them away from Leona, who still had some health levels, this kept them from killing her. Katerina is an assassin, she has to operate in the shadows and get up close without being detected. So what you saw was her in melee rather than in her element. You guys are amazing in your reactions and the genuineness, again, is just really heart warming to see!

She is a fox spirit come to life really, so they play on the DnD idea of kitsune (a kind of fox person) and foxes are known for mischief ;) the pink glow in the beginning was a charm to help with her luring of Draven and Darius. I love how Riot is able to create such a fantastic universe around their characters. Since they work hard on the lore around Runeterra, the cinematics give such a deep and intense insight in some of the characters and make you love or hate them even more. Also playing them gives (at least me) a whole different feeling, when I know, what´s their intention behind them. There are various cinematics, that introduce you to a parallel storyline, like the Starguardian or KD/A Videos. I can highly recommend them, too, since they are fun to watch. And one of my personal favorites is the Odyssey trailer "Welcome Aboard".

The lion guy (Rengar) can go invisible as his ultimate ability, so that's why he just appears there at the end. The purple girl who seems very queenly is named Leona, she is a Solari, basically a holy warrior of the sun (she's actually one of the champions I play a lot).

As a person who is working at Riot Games (creators of League) for almost 7 years now, I always find a great burst of energy when someone new discovers the League universe. It always makes me proud of all the Rioters who spent so much time on creating the story and the world and the characters and the videos, showing that eventho this is all game, it can be enjoyed even as just something to watch. Glad you are diving into League. Some information you should know for future videos: Leona - armored girl who is a holy warrior that worships the sun. Which is why she had that skill. Rengar - "lion" who is hunter who loves hunting stronger foes. He collects trophies of the ones he slays Zyra - "poison ivy" is nature given form. Draven - one of the "douchebags". He was also seen in that Awaken video you guys watched. The battle with the other girl in the colloseum. He is narcissism personified. Darius - the other "douchebag" is the leader of the Noxians (you'll find out about them the more you watch). Their army was shown in awaken with that huge guy (Sion). They were attacking the "asian" country. He's also the brother of Draven Jax - Guy with the flaming lamppost. Don't really know much about him :) Graves - the guy you guys liked with the shotgun(?). He's an outlaw criminal that's leans towards good or neutral. Ahri - "racoon girl" is a vastaya (human with animal-like traits) and is also known as the nine tailed fox. The pink eyes she showed in the beginning after Leona was injured was her charming/seducing the brothers so they could shift the focus on her and not on finishing Leona off.

And the both of them are somewhat an Alien vs Predator easter egg, Rengar is the Predator and Kha'Zix is the Alien. Also in-game when one of them kills the other they get a tool tip on their status.

She is the Chosen of The Sun. She is former friend and nemesis of Diana the Chosen of The Moon.

I can give a short bio for each of the champions in this cinematic. I'll go in order as they appear. First off the girl with the big shield and golden armor. Her name is Leona and she comes from the region called Mount Targot, basically an impossibly tall mountain which reaches space. The people who live around the mountain have this thing where some of their bravest can ascend into demigods of sorts. Leona is one of those and since shes from the Solari clan who worships the sun she has sun powers and a rivalry with another character whom worships the moon, you might see her later. Ahri is the girl with the fox ears and tails. Her story is kinda strange because shes like an empathic predator who lures men in to devour their life essence. Shes from a specific race of people called Vastaya (half animals who can do magic) on the Asia inspired islands called Ionia. So even though she kills people for life essence she feels kinda bad about it since she can see flashed of their memories. The red haired girl is Katarina, shes from the nation of Noxus which is a dark and gray military state which kinda reminds people of a medieval soviet union with some added Roman Empire expansionism. Shes an assassin and the daughter of some big militray guy who disappeared or something like that, her story is old and not very interesting to me. The next one on the other hand is alot more interesting in my opinion. Darius, the guy with the big axe. He is also from the nation of Noxus. The nation of Noxus has 3 leaders who represent 3 values. Might, Vision, and Guile. Darius is the military leader representing Might. He has this kinda depressed GI Joe vibe with a heavy dose of might is right. He's so military that he supposedly has a bunch of daughters but doesn't know who they are since they're just more soldiers in his eyes. He features in miltiple cinematics and he even has a really good comicbook called Darius: Blood of Noxus. The next one to appear is Draven, the brother of Darius. He's more of a noxian celebrity. He really is just an executioner but he makes big gladiatoral games out of it. He is also very self absorbed and over the top. Not as important as Darius though, he's pretty close to comic relief in many instances. Next up is the plant chick, her name is Zyra and since shes also an old champion her lore isn't the most interesting, but she was a human who when became a force of nature though a massive magical event. Even since she has pretty much just walked around fulfilling her new primal urges to make things grow in new places, though not in a very nice fairy tale sort of way, she uses humans to fertilize her meat eating plant babies. Then the rest of the team is revealed, starting with the guy with the gun. He's from Bilgewater which is a very cool pirate place which also has cowboys and sea witches and sea monsters and all things cool about fishing village folklore. He's genrally a mercenary, gambler, and thief, like most people in Bilgewater, but hes a famous one. Supposedly wanted in every city hes been in and all that typical cowboy stuff, all about criminal honor and all that. Makes for a charming film character. Next to him is the big lion called Rengar. Like Ahri he is also a vastaya, though he is clearly alot more animal than man. He is eavily imspired by the predators from the predator series. He's the primal perfect hunter type who collects trophies from those he kill, and he has a bunch of gadgets like bolas. Thats also why he can go invisible like you see at the end of this cinematic, he's a straight up predator. They even took it so far as to give him a rivalry with an insectoid alien champion in the game called Kha'zix whos based on the Aliens from the Alien series. They just copied Alien vs Predator and put it in league. Then theres the guy with the purple good and many eyes. He is a very old champion so theres not that much to his lore. He's a dude who got turned purple during some mage wars long ago and he's supposed to be a really good fighter so to give everyone else a chance he uses a street lantern for a weapon. Then finally theres Nautilus, the giant anchor wielding thing. He is pretty cool since he is more or less a seaside myth. In Bilgewater theres a tradition that all who sail out at see must toss a coin into the ocean to pay the tithe to Nautilus or else he sinks your ship and lets the deepest and darkest ocean swallow you for being greedy. What he is exactly I don't know, but he is one of multiple interesting "living myth" characters. That was all the champions in this cinematic. Luckily for me they aren't the most modern champions so there isn't a whole lot to say about some of them.

The main protagonist is called Ahri (a mage character who will charm you with her abilities). The redhaired hottie is Katarina (an assassin). Shield girl is Leona (a support/tank). Axe dude is Darius (a 1v5 bruiser/fighter). The Racoon dog is called Rengar (my main in the game btw and a fighter/assassin character). Twohands cigar shooter boy is Graves (an adc, short for attack damage carry(always ranged damage dealers)). Poison Ivy is called Zyra (a mage/support). 4 eyes is Jax (a fighter/bruiser). Mustache dude is Draven (adc character, and correct you have seen him in your previous league reaction). Metal boy is Nautilus (and big surprise he is a tank)

To understand why Ahri prefers running over fighting, u need to know her past. She had a time in her life, when she consumed souls of humans to see the world through their memories, until she found out, that this is a bad thing. But at that point, she was already accicted to it, so she went into isolation. She eventually overcame her addiction but that's why she is like this.

Red hair girl was Katarina - she was running to lead them into her team in the beginning Darius (The big guy with the axe) and Draven ( the bored king in Awaken). Both are brothers by the way. The girl with shield is Leona a support champion and the team with the brothers' support was Nautilus the big thing with the chain. The cat guy is Rengar and the guy with the shot gun is Graves. (funny about the cigar it was removed due to moms complaining then put back in- running joke in League) The guy with the lamp post staff is Jax and the Poison Ivy looking girl is Zyra. The nine tail girl is Ahri she has tons of dashes and charms so she kinds of damages you by running around. There are no good or bad guys in League of Legends. They are just different people with different issues lol. No Sylas was not in this he was only recently created.

The thing she did when the fox girl turned pink-purple was an ability she has to "charm" the enemies so they follow her. I think you should watch Rise - League of Legends which it's a good song and has good animation.

League is played with 2 teams of 5. So this was supposed to show the team fights going in and out of the Jungle. Roles in the game are split into 5 slots: Top, Jungle, Mid, ADC, Support The teams were: Ahri (Fox Lady, "Mid" Mage) Leona (Redhead with the Shield, "Support" Tank) Graves (Cigar Bro, "ADC" Attack Damage Carry) Rengar (Invisible Kitty w/Eye Patch, "Jungle" Assassin) Jax (Lantern fighter, "Top" Brawler) Katarina (Redhead w/Daggers, "Mid" Assassin) Darius (Big Axe Guy, "Top" Brawler) Draven (Throwing Axe Guy, also gladiator boss in Awaken, "ADC") Zyra (Plant Lady, "Support" Mage) Nautilus (Giant Anchor Man, "Jungle" Tank) Hopefully this helps

I love your reactions. It's really loveable how you really try to understand what's going on. League of Legends has a few more cinematics with similar art styles but one thing I love about Riot Games is the huge amount of different styles they implemented. As you seem to really like conclusive stories being told in those cinematics I want to recomment "ANNIE: Origins" to you. It's about the lore of the character Annie and has a very unique style. If you're interested in seeing more different styles, all the music videos to the League of Legends World Championship songs use differing art styles, whilst also usually featuring some of the pro players. I can really recommend those. There's also "The Curse of the sad Mummy" which is a song and a story telling music video at the same time. Anyways, I'll be looking forward to your next reactions!

This cinematic is kind of outside of the story, it's moreso meant to just show what might happen in an average league of legends match. All the characters are random and don't actually have any story together other than the guy with the big axe called Darius and his brother Draven whom got torn apart by the lion. Awaken and Warriors had more to do with the events in the story which is why it was cut up more since in the story alot of the characters don't meet eachother, they're from different parts of the world. I'm really looking forward to you guys getting to the Ruination storyline. It starts with the cinematic called "The Climb", Followed by "Senna: Shadows Embrace", Then as of right now "Ruination". But there is supposed to be another cinematic to come following this storyline. Someone has probably already mentioned this but theres a bunch of cinematics for the league og legends card game aswell called Legends of Runeterra. The guy with the gun and cigar is called Graves and he features a couple of those, specifically the cinematic dedicated to the region called Bilgewater and Bandle City. Those cinematics have a more comicbook artstyle.

We still enjoyed this a lot even if it’s not considered cannon for LoL. We have heard Graves pops up in some Runterra trailers that we are looking forward to checking out. We were told Dark Passage The Climb Shadow Embrace and Ruination is the chronological way to watch those and that’s how we planned. Though I guess Climb actually was released before Dark Passage? 🤗🤔

By the way, you wanted to know about characters, so i'll try to explain real quick(I'm sure that people in comments will correct me, if i'll be wrong on something) So: TEAM 1 Girl with tails is Ahri. She's like kitsune, japanese version of succubus, but she's not really evil, cuz she feels bad, killing people like that. Her abilities are spirit-based Girl with shield is Leona. She's of Solari tribe, which worships the Sun. Abilities are solar-related. Guy with gun is Graves. He's an outlaw, mercenary and gambler from pirate themed city of Bilgewater. Lionlike dude is Rengar. Hunter, collecting heads of different monsters, raised in wilds. He can turn invisible. Guy with glowing eyes with burning lantern is Jax. He's the master of martial arts, so he uses lantern to give his opponents a small chance to win the fight. TEAM 2 Redhead girl is Katarina du Couteau. Daughter of legendary Noxian general, and elite assasin. Axe guy is Darius, one of the greatest commanders of Noxus. His life's creed is "Only strongest survives". Disciplined warrior and living symbol of Noxus' might. Huge guy with an anchor is Nautilus. He is kinda undead cuz he drowned in his suit, and came back as he is now... PoisonIvy-like is Zyra. Basically she's like Ivy, but kinda even more evil. Guy, with whirling axes, who got killed first in teamfight is Darius' little brother, Draven. Former soldier, he went to Arena, so he can shile as best gladiator (His new lore or smth. Earlier he was an executioner) Also, according to community's old tradition, his name is pronounced as Draaaaaaaaven. Whole thing with fighting (at least in old lore) was set as a way to solve world's conflicts without huge war casualties. I haven't played LoL for a while, but as far as i know, lore was somewhat changed But i hope, people will help me with explaining things 😉

The pink thing that Ahri "the nine-tailed fox" releases, is a different way of her charming enemies. in the game, she throws a heard shaped thing that charms first thing it hit. and also, the teams are The First Team: Ahri, The Nine-tailed Fox (the fox lady) Leona, The Radiant Dawn (the lady with golden shield and sword) Graves, The Outlaw (the Badass guy with cigar and big gun) Rengar, The Pridestalker (the one-eyed lion, that jumps on the trees and had stealth) Jax, Grandmaster at Arms (the guy in Violet coat, the one that uses lamppost as his weapon) The Second Team: Katarina, The Sinister Blades (your favorite character in the cinematic, the red-haired chic that has daggers" Darius, The Hand of Noxus (the guy with full armor and a big axe) Draven, The Glorious Executioner (the guy with Spinning Axe the one the Rengar killed, and another thing he is Darius' brother) Zyra, Rise of the Thorns (the plant lady that Ahri have slain) Nautilus, The Titan of the Depth (the gigantic cyclops that has anchor as a weapon) hope this one helps! :*

The drink is so cute holy shit, what an absolutely wholesome way to open into a bloody cinematic lmao There isn't necessarily any "good" or "bad" guys in this cinematic specifically since its a 5v5 fight very loosely inspired by how the game actually plays but far more pretty and dramatic, though they did deliberately use characters that from appearance seemingly lean more one way or another. One could make arguments based on character lore I guess but that's not really the point of this video. A New Dawn is pretty interesting because while it's quite an old video now, graphically it still stands up really well, compared to, say, the original League of Legends trailer lol. Also I think it's the only time Zyra has appeared in a cinematic, which is really a shame because she looks so good here. If you like cigar guy Graves, he has a really good scene in Tales of Runeterra: Bilgewater “Double-Double Cross." Also featuring one of my favs with really good lore, Miss Fortune! Her, Graves and Twisted Fate have such a delightful dynamic. I could easily make walls of text gushing about the Bilgewater gang, or MF's development in general lol
