Perfect depiction of a villain. Viktor is not evil, but broken. He thinks he's doing the right thiong, but he's sacrificing everything in his pursuit of greatness. He crossed the line.

Agreed, he's my favourite character and has been from the start. He only wanted to help people and give them better lives, but ended up losing himself in trying to do good. Though, I've seen plenty of people who liked and loved Viktor in season 1 with him being a popular and universally liked character, who dislike and hate him now because of those 2 episodes and now see him as an evil villain, a narcissist with a god complex, a manipulator and hypocrite, etc. and it's really disheartening and sad. He's a really tragic character who had to struggle and suffer so much ever since he was born, but despite that only ever had good intentions and wanted to help people and give them peaceful, warless and painless lives, only to end up the way he did and to be remembered as a villain by the people of Piltover and Zaun, and apparently a portion of the fandom unfortunately.

He only came back to his senses when Ekko threw an anomaly onto his face, disturbing the "charge, potential, recursive impulse" of the arcane, and that was the moment Jayce could "reach" him, his humanity. Jayce probably didn't know Viktor could touch him and read his memories, but the anomaly on the Z-drive that Ekko threw at him was probably the thing that disturbed the arcane corruption of Viktor's mind and he could talk normally and humanly with Jayce.

Only after absorbing the apex shimmer would that argument even make a modicum of sense. Blaming it on the "evil arcane" takes away his complexity, and I believe the writers are better than that.

i wouldnt consider Viktor a Villain or Antagonist, more like a Victim of Circumstance. Where his unfair start in life lead him down a difficult path, and that he made the best with what he was given, better than most all things considered, just, fate was a knife, twisted even before stabbing him. You can defintiely look at most characters in Arcane as Victim of Circumstance, where if only one or two things were different, everything would've been better, the Doctor, Vander, Silco, Jinx/Power, Jayce, Kaitlyn. All these characters lives were changed irreversibly by tragic events, that if not for those events, the world would've been a whole lot different.

My grandmother passed away on the very day this song was first released on Spotify, it's very sudden and painful. What surprised me was the fact that the lyrics were so relatable to what had just happened, it was surreal, but now it all makes sense. I later found out she refused to call me the day she fell ill because she didn't want me to worry. This segment specifically has such a deep meaning because of that: "but I'd rather you not be here for what could be my final form, stay your pretty eyes on course". Don`t worry, Singed and Viktor failed to wipe out Vander`s humanity totally. We know because in the last episode there`s a flashback to Vander lovingly watching Young Powder and Vi sleep just after adopting them and because the two girls were sleeping in that flashback that memory could only be one person's: Vander's, thus explaining why Warwick doesn`t kill innocents in the game.

I know this song is meant for Viktor, showing his final doubts before finally crossing the line, but I love how it can apply to almost every character in the series: "Did I disappoint you?" - Jayce, Vi, Jinx, Cait, Mel, Vander, Silco. All these people trying to change for someone or something else, giving up a parts of themselves in an attempt to live up to expectations or achieve their goals. They all crossed their own lines in one way or another and that all leads to Viktor crossing THE LINE and after this scene nothing could ever be the same.

This song perfectly encapsulates Viktors villain arc, and the uniqueness of his arc. Because he’s not the classic villain of the story, his best friend is desperate to bring him back towards his humanity (his flaws), and his motives-despite being obviously twisted-are still on helping people technically. When Viktor went back to singed as a dying man, this was the end of the conversation: Singed: “I must warn you, if you take this path they will despise you. Love and legacy are the sacrifices we make for progress. It’s why I parted ways with Heimerdinger.” Viktor: “Jayce will understand” Singed: “Perhaps” The way he almost immediately says ‘Jayce will understand,’ their whole relationship has been built on keeping each other from crossing the line in a way (Jayce about to step off the literal ledge when Viktor pulled him back with just words, then Jayce saving Viktor from making the same choice after Sky, realizing they’ve failed to do good in pursuit of great and just seeing each other is what it took to make hard choices towards their pursuits/dreams). Then the lyrics themselves, “take a seat but I’d rather you not be here for what could be my final form,” Jayce was sitting next to him as he was dying when his body was literally on the line, unable to fight this time. Two best friends clinging to each other, they both pushed each other to do more, and helped each other from going too far. This time Jayce isn’t with him to keep him from crossing the line this time, even sky knows Viktor is losing something important in this transformation so the “but I’d rather you not be here for my final form” line just hits so hard. Then the “keep the memories of who I was before”? Gods that one gets me. When something horrible happens to you that changes you that line hits hard when you think of the friends and loved ones you’ve lost since you changed. The repeated “did I disappoint you?” Feels like Viktor talking directly to Jayce in a way, “will they let me over if I cross the line?” I always think of the infamous bridge and when Jayce set up the blockage and got mad at Viktor for visiting singed in Zaun, the way he was upset at Viktor for “crossing the line” between cities, not telling him what he was doing. The rift between them had started but all it took was thinking his friend wasn’t gonna make it to do whatever it took to save him. He seemed SO relieved when Viktor came out of the hexcore life support rectangle, the way he tried to piece together his partners notes, his secret project, ignoring any thoughts of danger to save Viktor. He was right that Jayce would understand using shimmer to heal himself, but taking over everyone’s consciousness and making perfect robots was a bit too far, now that is where I think Jayce pulled his nope card on crossing that line, saving Viktor from himself. It was a weird metaphorical religious painting of a ledge to pull his buddy off of but he did it! Sorry this is messy my thoughts are forever scattered on this but I have lots of feelings about this song okay, I love it, and their bro ship, I need a bro like that

I swear this is the most raw I have heard Tyler's voice. It's so sad about his loss of his Nana and him writing this song, thinking about his experience with his loss. You can always hear his deep emotions and connections to each song he writes. This one hits so deeply. My grandma passed away two years ago, in the similarly cold autumn as the release of this song... She meant the world to me. Raised me, taught me everything, showed me love, taught me empathy and reciprocity.
