Leagues 4 - Early Game Strategy and Tips!

Although we don't have the full task/relic list just yet, here are some of the tips and general strategies I've learned in the last 2 Leagues that will help you get a strong start to the Early Game and skyrocket your way into unlocking more zones and more relics!

Right now I'm leaning pretty hard towards KDA (Kandrin/Desert/Asgarnia) with a mage route, so I'll rush the shadow and basically go nuts with that everywhere I can! I'm not 100% sure yet though as I obviously want to see the relics but so far that's been my plan!

I went KAT last time and this time I'm planning on WDM, because it sounds like fun to me! If I have to do Barb assault or Godwars again I know I'd just quit at adamant like I did in Leagues 3 😆 I just watched your areas guide and you have the best take on how to plan around having the most fun to play all throughout the 8 weeks.

My plan sofar was to nab the 10k from stronghold and work towards a 10hp wintertodt rush with zeah as a first unlocked region. Then use some of the gp to flat out buy a rune axe in the wc guild after getting 99fm. Not 100% sure on the other two regions yet. Waiting to see if they let you flat out pick slayer tasks at some point, as that would synergize really well with the wilderness and revenants

i think its important to remember that Jagex specifically said they wanted to change/remove a lot the existing tasks so that players cant plan ahead and figure out the best route which 90% of players will end up following, they want to see different routes and builds and to encorage that they are removing a lot of early game tasks and replacing them with new ones. So this video will probably be 90% useless. Though i guess its worth mentioning that ur reasoning and and overall strategy of rushing as many points early b4 training skills to high levels in order to make the most of the XP increases and lessen the grind in the long run is a good strategy.

Don't know if it is a viable strategy, but you can only get clue steps from the regions you have unlocked, so it might be worth it to focus on doing clues early rather than when you have 3 extra regions unlocked. The issue is getting the clues but if you were able to somehowget around it, then you could get some pretty nice upgrades quickly with medium and hard clues, especially since uniques will have boosted drop rate. If there is a relic that gives clue scroll bonuses like stacking clues or getting them from e.g. burning logs then it is viable to hold off unlocking regions fast.

thay may be a viable strategy but honestly clues are such a grind that it's probably better to unlock your relics/zones first and get the better drop rates it's probably not gonna be worth it to spam lumbridge clues for the first week's

I think it would be better to think of an early to do list. When I started my ironman I remember following a guide that made me pick up a bunch of seemingly random items early on and later I was thankful that I did since it allowed me to just pick it from the bank. One thing that annoyed me is that in League I would complete a task, go do another and then notice that if I paid attention, the third one could have been easily completed while I was on my way to do number 3. Maybe this is just my efficiency poisioned brain, but I hated that...

A fun way to start is to just do the three easy achievement diaries, it'll do so many tasks without having to look them up constantly

Main issue is just getting the water talisman for the lumby diary: wizards or abyssal creatures both drop them but you could go pretty dry and need some stats to start killing them.

It cannot be understated how good the OSRSwiki is. Ive always been comfortably rune and honestly i think i owe a lot of it to just being able to see what remaining tasks i had. Another tip i would like to throw out there... Players may want to hold off a bit to unlock relics. It is most likely going to be the case that we dont get to redo our relics. If you start playing day one, you might want to hold off on picking a relic until the community sort of figures out what is good. I remember a lot of people thinking unlimited sprint in Twisted was going to be bad, but a few days in to it we all realized it was so good they eventually made it default. I also remember some people thinking Skilling Prodigy would be good, and I know a couple of people who quit leagues 2 early because it was so bad they felt like there was no point in continuing. Plus there have been some very synergistic relics in the past, and knowing what exists at T5 may make you want to pick a different T2. Specializing tends to be better than generalizing. Holding off on some tasks and maybe working on some quests, stats, or money grinds may be worth it.

it really is a godsend and jagex works directly with them to have all the information ready to go day 1. one of the best tips is actually find something relatively afk to do early like fishing and spend some time planning your route using the wiki

Interested why they felt Skilling Prodigy was terrible? Being able to craft Zenytes, kill Abyssal Demons, craft runes etc. all at a far lower level seems really powerful - obviously it falls off lategame but feels like it's worth.

Skilling Prodigy is pretty good but requires a bit more game knowledge and planning to route out how to take advantage of the boosted levels. endless harvest and production master were kinda just brain off powerful relics to abuse

First thing to do get 20 crafting and 35 gp. Then go to al kharid and buy uncut sapphires and sell the cut ones. Profit until 99

Keep in mind Al kharid will require the Desert! So even if that's your first zone, you'll need to slam 60 tasks first to get that done :)

Yeah it's just a minor optimization you can make if you already have your 3 zones picked but don't know what order to do. So for example, I'm planning on Kandarin/Desert/Asgarnia, saving Asgarnia for 3rd because most of the content there like GWD is not something I really want to be doing early

This kinda felt like you could tldw the entire video with "do easy tasks, look for easy tasks with high amounts of points, work toward your relics, overall just take your time and have fun".

Task list usually only drops 2 hours before leagues itself so I'll be using that 2 hours to get out a list of the easiest and fastest 60 tasks to get yourself into the 1st region ASAP so keep an eye out for that the day of!

unfortunately there's no confirmation except them saying that they'll be changing a ton of them and adding some new ones for the new content, and removing excessive ones. usually about 2 hours before launch the full task list is out!

yup! almost certainly infinite run will be the tier 1 passive but they've also confirmed boosted minigame points as a passive and I highly suspect choosing your own slayer task and last recall will be passive as well, so getting points for higher tiers will be all the more important

Yeah personally I'm taking the first 2/3 days off work to grind hard at the beginning, but the 1st day is sooooo fun on launch with everyone there. I just feel a lot of people don't realize it's an 8 week format so getting enough sleep and stuff is better than grinding 20 hours the first day

I thought they confirmed that unlocks were based on number of tasks completed not the difficulty of the tasks? That way you should always focus on easy tasks first.

zone unlocks are based off tasks, relic unlocks are based off points so you have to find a balance :)

Also gotta post my Kandarin hate thread here: Kandarin is easily one of the worst regions unless you're going for max magic damage imo. Its only BIS is Zenytes/Occult which only matters for Magic. 7% str and 5% att on a prayer is not worth choosing a region for. The Dcim has plenty of peers or near equivalents and a t60 weapon is not a good reason to choose a region. Even if you're only going melee, void+defenders+dmace/baxe are way better than a dcim. And the new staff+mystics is way overshadowed by infinity+tome+wand+ancients. Kandarin also has by far some of the worst tasks and content of all the regions. I can't even think of a single BiS training method in the region while other regions offer BiS training methods that are task/time efficient too like Tempoross, Pyramid Plunder, Soul Wars, Pest control, etc.

I can respect the logic but overall kandarin is still really strong and has great perks, easily being the best zone for magic. Piety is pretty strong, zenytes are fine, and the zone lacks a lot of dogshit tasks like others have. it's one of the easiest zones to "complete" compared to others

@@doubleshine I can't really think of worse tasks than 2k monkey laps and chompy kills especially since neither of those help you with any other tasks/skills (other than 25m agility). And yeah I'd say its almost required for magic but Desert by far the best region for magic and overall (infinity/wand/ancients/shadow). That being said, I wouldn't count on having to choose one combat style or that they won't improve previous terrible tasks. I'm also pretty sure they said they would make minigames faster too like getting golden nuggets/MTA but maybe they've gone back on that.

Yeah on it's own 2k laps is probably the worst task in the game lol (I don't mind chompies as much with the sped up relic) but compared to some other regions it's much less time consuming. Like it's 20 hours of boredom but that's easier to do than 500 ToB or completing every god book or getting ely shield@@kenshin1368
