@@mightbeapersonmaybe8379 Vanguard Tactics did Nids Vs Votann at 2k. It wasn't a laser optimised Votann list as it had no land fortresses or Hearthguard etc as the models arent out. The Leagues won but only by 7 points. It's also worth mentioning that the Nids came pretty close while being piloted by a guy who admitted at the start "I don't really have any knowledge of Nids so I had to do a lot of reading before this" and the guy playing Leagues was Stephen Box, who's one of the top players in the UK and has multiple GT wins under his belt. I think once people have played against LoV a bit counters will start to develop. They died pretty fast to the disgusting amounts of MWs that Tyranids can pump. If anything I think it said more about how terrifying Tyranids still are!

I would love to see how well the votom do against the really shooty army like the towel or something stupid fast like the dark elves. Yeah the photon packs of insane firepower and their tank as hell. But they're also slow as hell and have relatively small numbers. So can the space dwarfs defenses stand up the sheer volume of guns the towel can shoot that them with. And how effective are they really when it comes to hitting something much faster than they have they can just move the hell out of the way.

Feels like LoV are definitely too strong right now (basic troops rather easily taking down an Onager Dunecrawler, that's a red flag right there), but with a slight adjustment to their judgment tokens and that relic mass hammer (really cool hammer, but come on) they should be alright. Also, it feels like mortal wounds are too easily accessible to them. Otherwise, they're pretty cool I think.

Must also be said that if, instead of those Sydonian Dragoons Tak brought a pair of Ironstriders with autocannons, he may have done some considerable damage. As it was the Dragoons were little more than a weak meat(sorry AdMech, I mean machine) shield.

My strategy with the Sydonian Dragoons was to make it tough for the Votann to hit with the inherent minus to hit as the Votann ignore light cover so I don't get that buff. I also feel like IF I had made that first turn charge I could have Chain-taser Protocol'd and taken down the Hernkyn Pioneers and then consolidated and maybe even shut down the Hearthkyn Warriors ability to move and score in the back. While the Destroyers may seem like an odd choice the super charge to strength 8 means while I am hitting on 4s I am wounding on 2s. You cannot re-roll wounds against Void Armour so my hope was to increase the efficiency of wounding. The autocannons could only wound on 3s and no re-rolls.

The overhead can be deceiving at times. Unfortunately with the 10-man squad the Ranger in the back was positioned in a way for some of the Warriors to still be able to see. That is why only 3 or 4 Hearthkyn Warriors shot instead of all of them.

LoV is the perfect example of what horks me off about GDubs. Latest and Greatest is one thing, but there are so many things that just invalidate other armies’ abilities. Invalidating light cover screwing over a canticle is just one example. Negating rerolls to wound and ignoring invuls just screws over Eldar so hard.

One weapon ignores invulns. It's very short range. Don't count on it smashing you as hard as you read. Ignoring cover is meh? You know about it ahead of time, so you just utilize line of sight instead. The 'unable to reroll wounds' thing is ok. It's not amazing since they're usually sitting at toughness 4, but it doesn't hurt. A lot of armies don't reroll to wound anyways. Eldar are an amazing counter to them: They can't shrug mortal wounds and Shuriken weapons hurt them down bad. Couple that with speed and you're gonna be stunting dwarves before you know what's good about them.

this isn't actually true. beam weapons only hit units that are eligible targets (see page 87 of the LoV codex, they state that a unit protected by look out sir is not eligible to be targeted and therefore isn't affected by the beam weapon). if you look at the rules for target selection in the core rule book during the shooting phase, it states that only enemy units may be targeted (see page 15 of the core rules). Hopefully this is helpful.
