It's more like when the company is underperforming, something have to change. There are many new focuses and directions that the company have to take to slowly regain its current trajectory of revenue. Either the big exec people have to go, or the lower position have to go, and add in new position that fits more with the company's new direction forward. Maybe they want to focus more on advertising to new people first to gather customers and capitals, then the dev people who doesn't work directly on the advertising campaign is redundant at the time. When they have the capitals, they can rehire people latter. So "strong performer but at the wrong place, wrong time" is reasonable decision to let go. It's all about keeping the company afloat and meeting current business direction first. A good business would fire some of the exec, the low performed low position people and even the "strong performer but at the wrong place, wrong time" low position people. Then that business will monitor the new employees to see their progresses and metrics compare to the previously fired people's and decide who to keep, who to continue fire, then rehire until that business reach a sustainable workforce for the company's direction. This is all just business theory and of course in reality, the exec people could just want to benefit themselves. Of course for the employee, this sucks, but for business owners and people at exec level, this is something one must decide so that the company doesn't go completely bankrupt, which will be way worse than current situation.

These companies are gross. Today, on ToWNn HaLL MEeTiNgG, I asked if we can spend at least one day working remote and the VP says “No, I would have you all in the office six days a week, if I could.” I wanted to vomit

If the other people in the room had any respect for themselves and a soul, they would get up and walk out. The CEO has zero self awareness. Just terrible.

They're in on it, trust me. Lots of these parasitic startups, sell a good story, get money to build their "product", rent space, hire people, talk the talk, then a couple of years later ... their house of cards falls and the individuals take the rest of the money and basically bail. They often file bankruptcy and drag things along to look more legitimate - (or perhaps even incompetent), so no criminal conspiracy is ever suspected. The tell tale sign is when they clearly take no responsibility for their actions and blame everyone but themselves.

Its so easy to just lay staff off through Zoom but Josh you should know all the crooks and nannies with how they track their staff cos you are an IT guys too, maybe its the time they spend online, are they on time handing in their work? or it could be how many clicks or searches they did on real estate (or non real estate). There should be a law that layoffs have to happen in person unless otherwise indicated by the employee. food prices are rising everywhere, even in Asia albeit not as much America probably, not sure if there will be a wave of unemployment hitting the community, we are just living to see another day.

Who are these people that are still staying with this company at this point? Do you just not give a shit about how they treat employees or are you just stuck financially? Like, okay it's not easy for a lot of people to just up and leave a job, we all have responsibilities. So, if you're not leaving simply for the fact that you can't.. then that's understandable. Other than that though... why else would you want to stay here? If I were a current employee and saw this, why would I at all feel optimistic about continuing to work for them?
@stalkob66492 жыл бұрын
Always best to quit on your terms, always have another job ready, and if you feel you've hit a stump at work, move on. Very few businesses will benefit you by staying more than 1-2 years. Keep looking for the next best place while employed and you'll never get screwed over like this. If you're going to be another cog in the machine, at least grind where it's worth it for you.

Yes if they only fired redundant and under-performers their job should not get harder. It should even get easier with less people to deal with.

Funny how these shumcks never consider that the best offense might be to fire themselves. Bc, let's admit it, if you've fired half your company, after building it up to that, then you as the CEO and executives have failed, first and foremost, and so CEO and executives should be first to leave. Then the new CEO that comes in can fire the rest of the employees; at least s/he has the benefit of not having been involved in the downfall.
