Mike it is always wonderful to watch your videos. Excellent team work. You are the best teacher. Why don't you get a hand truck with hydraulic cylinder to make the job easy. I am a super of residential buildings in Flushing. I use the hydraulic lift for heavy pumps and motors. That lift is used to lift the patients from beds. Somebody threw in garbage, but it worked as a treasure for me. Good luck.

Watching your entry there made me remember a company I used to work for that came with a free gym membership My only problem was I told them I get paid to work out I don't pay to work out even though the membership was free I still had to pay a parking toll in a garage and couldn't do it on the clock so I never went other than one time I had to use the shower due to a sewer explosion and then I had a client meeting

My company paid half the garage parking price. Motorcycle were half price. It took a month for them to decide to pay it all for motorcycles. Went down to get my spot, and they don't even charge, you just park under pipes where cars can't fit. LOL you could fit dozen bikes under one 4 foot water line.

Another great job. Why do builders always make the access to the basements so tight hardly enough room to get the utility room appliances in and out? This was a great repair as the burner was still in very good condition. does the parts and labour not make this repair close to the price of a totally new unit? But nice to see that you can give new life to an old boiler.

What is the root cause for this boiler failure? Too frequent fresh oxygenated H20 feed into the boiler because of steam valve, main valve issues, other leakage etc?

Hey Mikey! Love the vids. I have 2 steam Burnham boilers installed 14 and 15 years ago probably the same size as this one in 2 of my rental houses and both have failed within 6 months of each other and replaced. They both had a hole in the block in the exact same place as this one in the video. Wondering if this was a factory defect as all 3 failed in the 14-15 year timeframe. These Burnhams historically usually last about30 years or so. Your professional thoughts?

I guess these blocks have a longer life on oil fired burners. I still run a 63 year old Burnham Jubilee unit along with a new heat pump system. Only improvements made were a new fire box media and Beckett burner from Supply House.

There is a reason that that one section failed. Whatever damage that section, likely damaged other sections as well if they are not currently leaking, it will be leaking soon. Not very smart to replace one section. And the labor involved in separating sections and putting them together, is significant. Not cost-effective in any way. Not in any way got a customers best interests.
