I am working on this break line leak on a 2000 Chevy Blazer
This is the short break line on the rear wheel that goes from the tee right over to the wheel If this wasn't so rusty this wouldn't be so bad of a job The way I found this leak was in previous video I rebuilt a caliper and after rebuilding the caliper I was bleeding the line and just couldn't get a solid break pedal I kept having the brake pumped & adding fluid but it just wouldn't hold.

Thank you for this very clear video! I'm trying to fix my mom's 2000 Blazer, the two front lines rusted out at the driver side wheel well. I have a double flaring tool that I got at AutoZone that looks almost exactly like yours in terms of quality, but even being careful to line everything up, my flares turn out sort of lop-sided. So far they don't seem to be leaking so maybe they're good enough? Any advice for what I'm doing wrong or do you think the kit is to blame?

You're welcome, I am glad this was of help. And thank you for watching and taking the time to comment. Before you flared the line did you deburr it? If there was any lip or irregularities on the edge that would cause the flare to be lopsided. @FortySixthRegiment I have other videos on my channel that cover different subjects and new videos added weekly that may also be of help or interest. Excellent you know your stuff so well and explain things very well. This is so helpful to people,. I Have an old Mazda ettude, um the handbrake light keeps coming on, I still drive it though, I have no idea why that is happening, and dreading to take it into a garage, would you know if it is serious? Hope it's okay that I am asking, you just seem to have a lot of great knowledge on this, thanks for sharing. God bless you 😊💕

Without being able to check it out I can only offer some issues that may cause this. First of all I stress that this can be very dangerous, driving around with the light indicating an issue. Is your your brake pedal spongy, do you hear any noise when you apply the break? If so have a shop look at it before you continue driving. Your parking brake switch may be defective, a simple fix to replace it. Apply the parking break while you are parked a couple of times. Did you notice the light going on then off? Next check the fluid level. If it is low add some. If all checks out the fluid sensor may be defective. You can call a couple of shops to get an estimate for the repair. Some may check it out and tell you what is the issue without a charge. Ask if there is a charge to let you know. You may have to call a few. Let me know if this helps. Please be safe, Joe Z

I have a collection of tube cutters and flaring tools. I've done flaring before, but I didn't know about the piece you used for first pressing. Looks like it rounds the factory-new and cut edges to take sharpness out. Guess I've been lucky that all my flares worked without issue, but none of them were on vehicles with moving parts or anything flexible. I'll have to see if I have those pre-flaring pieces or get some. Don't remember ever seeing them. Great job, Joe. Hi to Johnny and Phil. Glad you had the help.

I have flared many copper water & LP gas lines. The flaring tools you have are for these. When flaring brake lines a ""double flare brake line"" kit is used. The adapter you saw me use is to produce the double flare. It can handle more pressure than a regular flare. There is also a bubble flaring kit. Phyllis & Johnny are often recruited LOL and say hi. Stay well my friend

@@JOEZEP54 Thanks for explaining the difference! I used to do my own vehicle work, but, at 68 with a pretty bad car accident at 18 as front seat passenger, my lower back, hips and neck don't like it much anymore, so I'm limited as to what I can and can't do or will and won't do. I doubt I'll ever take on brake lines myself, but it's good to know what the tools I have are and aren't good for. Thanks again, Joe. It's good that you're still up to the tasks and you do great work.

I know exactly what you mean. I'm a few year older & had a car accident about 30 years ago and between that & age it slows me down more than I care to admit. What use to take very little time or effort can be a challenge. I do what I can. Thank you for your continuing support. I really do appreciate it.
