People today don’t realize this but 10 years ago $200 was a lot of money.

I'mm doing this today. SO have the same leaky issue on a 6 ton bottle jack. It leaks at the release valve opening even with the rubber seal. It needs a fix like the one you showed. Will see how it goes. I just love the ideas from fellow KZbinrs. 👍🏽🤠 4/21/23

Thank you for this. My 20 ton bottle jack decided to start leaking yesterday.

Thanks man. I just used this method to fix my leaky Harbor Freight shop press but I used a brass pipe fitting instead of the hinge bushing.

Bought it off the back of a truck, I even stopped using my press, tired of the mess. I use the same words. Thanks for the fix- it's on my "to do " list.

What about disassemble the jack repair you did. Then demonstrate how it goes together step by step. Think about it, you know what you did, your viewers don't. I have the problem and would like to solve it.
@AdirondackNY10 жыл бұрын
your right, that would be a much better way to show how to fix it

Like if I were demonstrating how to repair something under the car using those jacks. I should be sure to highly recommend using manual safety stands also. Small seemingly unnecessary but potentially life saving. Please break it down. Lay it all out you know, like , first get this ,then next do this then finally do this. With your video I might not have to buy another one. My plan is to fix my porch with them, I have one working and one that leaks. I already subscribed! Thank you

hi.i have a 6x10 cargo trail. not sure of weight but reg says 2990 gvwr. the height is aprox 861/2 " but my garage opening is only 84".due to hoa rules i need to keep it in my garage.i was able to get it in yrs ago by flattening the tire and it just barely made it in.this makes it impractical to use often.i'm thinking of keeping it on bare rims just to pull it in and out of garage with no clearance headaches .once in the drive way jacking it up installing the rimed tires and going.and doing the reverse to get it back in the garage.do you think it safe ,leaving the hitch connected to the truck ,to jack the trailer up from the center rear with a 3 ton floor jack and 2 jack stands lifting both wheels off the ground simultaneously to remove the rims and install the rims with tires on them to avoid having to jack one side at a time to make this operation faster?

This is very helpful but it is not a great video because the camera is out of focus. Anyway, what brought me here is the fact that the cheap chinese bottle jack that I bought started leaking oil and nowhere I could not find that black plug to refill it. The manual that they included was ripped from the original bottle jacks and shows that black refill plug. However, the manual doesn't remotely apply to their product.

I used a piece of rubber held against the hole with a worm-gear hose clamp that goes around the cylinder. Looks horrible, but it doesn't leak. I've lost several of these, and apparently they're like classified war material.

Doesn't work. Stops leak, but jack now doesn't work.
@AdirondackNY2 жыл бұрын
It's probably air bound, ad some jack oil to it and pump it with the valve open then shut the valve pump it all the way up open valve and press it all the way down.

Where can I get the little brass bushing and silicone piece?
@AdirondackNY3 жыл бұрын
Any auto parts store will have the brass door pin bushing but you can stack washers in there. I found the silicone isnt needed on the piece of 3/8 rubber fuel line because when it presses in it seals it shut. Also i forgot to put in this video that i took a tap & die set and cut threads inside the rubber fuel line to match the threads of the little metal T valve. I'll probably make another video and replace the seal because after almost 9 years it's starting to leak again.
