So glad you ladies decided to react to this! It's so brutal but kinda beautiful and melodic as well. The keys help alot
@gaunterodimm87642 жыл бұрын
Yooooooooo. Never would’ve thought you ladies will react to this track. Even before watching I have a feeling that jaws will be dropped, “holyshit meter” will be off the charts and expectations exceeded. Let’s freaking go! Edit: the low vocals are called growling and the high ones - screaming. At 8:03 the sound that he makes is called pig squeal which is another extreme vocal technique. The mix of 2 (growl and scream) on the track is called layering. Basically a vocalist records the same track or a particular part of the track couple of times with different techniques and then they put one layer on top of another in the mixing process. That gives the sound fullness and massiveness. A really good example of layering can be heard in “To The Hellfire” by Lorna Shore (not sure if you reacted to it or not, if not - defo check it out, also there’s a vocal one take by Will Ramos, it is even more impressive, you can react to it as well). Edit 2: reaction totally lived up to my expectations. Well done ladies! Edit 3: can you please react to “Off The Abyss” by Lorna Shore? This track is extremely underrated yet it’s my favorite off of the recent EP they dropped. Would love to hear what your opinions on this damn masterpiece.

To me the pig squeal in this one could also be considered a guttural, just because Ben's voice is so deep.
@finq09972 жыл бұрын
Into the Hellfire gets so much attention because of the crazy pig squeals at the end, but let's be real, Of the Abyss is easily the best track on that album.

@prod.sr718621 күн бұрын
@@chrisbryz1652 fry is different, you cant call every high a fry cause not all vocalist use frys to get high, some use a combo of the 2, for example will ramos will do fry goblins or false chord goblins and they sound very different but very similar shits cool asf

Low vocals are often called Growls/Gutturals. they can both utilize the Vocal Cords and False cords... Falsecords are a little more deeper, lower, slow vibration... the distortion is more slower and less smooth sounding, It's basically going back to caveman like animalistic speech where you don't really activate the true vocal cords which are used to sing/speak with... it's like the growly sound you do when you sigh heavily, or clear your throat... or if you try barking like a dog... where as Fry/Vocal Cord Growls/Gutterals sound a little more Static, faster distortion, more clean and tend to sound a little more spoken and smooth as they use the true vocal cords, the part of the voice we speak/sing with. I believe this vocalist uses a mixture of both techniques. you can do the same with the high screams. which are usually done with the Vocal Cords/Fry. high falsecord variations tend to sound a lot more nasty... chaotic, less controlled, they sound more Zombie like... usually less pleasing on the ears though a lot of us like that. the cool thing about falsecords is that you tend create heavy overtones/undertones, and with the right technique you can almost make it sound like two different pitches/voices at once.

In VAariaious terms we just call it what it sounds like or what animal sounds the closest usually animals, Slaughter to prevail is Bear Dominant, Amon Amarth is Viking Warrior, Lorna Shore / Shado of Intent is Gollum/Camel/Pig Squeels.

There are a couple of voice coaches who actually go into some good detail about these types of vocals. Julia Nilion (may have butchered her last name) and the Charismatic voice. The best one for both I believe is their reaction to Lorna Shore To the Hellfire. Great reaction! Keep up with these awesome metal reactions!

What you are referring to where you hear the highs and lows at the same time is called vocal layering. Every.Single.Artist. Does it. In every genre, it makes the vocals sound more full. So in the studio sometimes they’ll record right and left “called panning vocals”. They’ll most of the time layer 4 vocal layers mean two takes of high and two takes of lows.
