Just wonderful documentaries. Saw just a little bit of all the episodes yet, but i enjoy it very much. You have a very entertaining way of teaching about wine. Keep up! Ps. the bottle @ 23:33 is called "Bocksbeutel" in Germany and is exclusively for wines from Frankonia. Only wines of a certain quality are allowed to be filled in these bottles, mostly Silvaner and Riesling... I recommend a visit :) And i have seen some wines from Portugal in those bottles.

Saw the article about this episode in the Union Bulletin. Super high quality stuff, I've lived here three and a half years, been around the wineries a bit, and actually didn't know a ton about the specifics of the business end of the winemaking in this region. Thanks for the deep dives on the soil and bottle types too, nobody ever talks about that. Also, I really can't believe you don't have more views/subs!

An amazing episode with two of my favorite wine peeps! I love how you present the geologic history and soil types... I've only been to Walla Walla once (Aug 2021) and thoroughly enjoyed the areas offerings. Congrats on yet another super fine episode - please keep them coming!!

Figuring out where something comes from is so much fun. I have been fortunate in my architectural career to work with vineyards and wineries. Why has there been such a large increase in wineries in Washington, Napa and Paso Robles? Has the consumption of wine increased because of places like Costco and Trader Joe’s? I love these videos. Thank you so much for all the work put into each video.
@visforvino3 жыл бұрын
So glad you’re enjoying the content! The reason you see a lot of wineries from the same regions (at least, on store shelves) is that unlike beer or spirits, it’s tough to market wineries that exist outside established growing regions. So people spend their “investment money” on proven regions, and it becomes a bit of a self fulfilling prophecy. But every state makes wine, and there’s a lot of unknown international wine regions worth exploring too! Hopefully we get to make episode in all of them! 🙌
@markmedley68493 жыл бұрын

´How do you identify Washington Bordeaux blends in a blind tasting over wines from France? I ask as you said some of them weren´t charateristically new world wines.
@visforvino2 жыл бұрын
Good question! While WA wines definitely have some old world character, they are still usually higher in alcohol, body, and more fruit character than BDX. BDX also have a distinct "gravel" or "pencil shaving" character that I don't get from WA.

Phenomenal episode - Walla Walla is among our favorite wine regions in the world. The people are down to earth, the community is cozy and hospitable, the history is palatable, and one can find the wines extraordinary. We have been visiting for the last two and a half decades. My husband and I, along with our girls started a wine storytelling venture - Spoken Wines - and are so excited to share a couple inspiring stories of long standing and newer to the area wineries. Enjoyed this tremendously!
