I adore Oregon. What a place. So cool to see places I have been. One of my favorite wineries is a small one called Pudding River. Best Syrah I have ever had once there.

Willamette Valley Pinot Noir remains at the top of my faves! Not easy to find here in BC. Always make sure I pick a few up when I visit my friends in Portland.

That’s a bummer it’s hard to find there, hope they continue to grow and export more!

I love a good Oregon Pinot Noir. Some of the most uniquely flavored Pinots.

I am a big fan of yours and a huge advocate for Oregon Pinot…but you really didn’t give us real insights to the willamette valley. I have been to Lange and it is a great location with some very nice wines. But reviewing a few other wineries (Colleen Clemens, Iota, Rex Hill, Willa Kenzie, Big Table Farm…there are so many) would have been a better option. I live in the heart of the Finger Lakes wine region and thought your video on your trip here was really well done, wish I could say the same for your Oregon video. Fans don’t beat me up, the Willamette valley is incredible for Pinot, it is a must visit more than one time.
@visforvino2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching Michael! Yes, I agree we could have done a bit more here, and I think a second Oregon episode may have to be in the works one day. Lange is amazing, and I do think they’re a good representation of the region, but I’d like to explore more. At the time of filming this (season 2) what is you see is what our resources allowed. But starting season 3 (and in most of the season 4, 7 episodes coming in June!) we put more diversity of wineries in the episodes. Can’t wait for you to see the new episodes, and thanks for the feedback!

I used to go there often - walked and dined The Pearl, ran the river walk, toured the wineries - Domaine Serene, Bergstrom, Penner-Ash, etc. - sadly the summer of 2020 riots and all that went with that ruined the area for me - friends who had some of the top rated restaurants had to permanently close, others moved out of state - recently had a business trip that I would have normally stayed downtown but didn’t bother - no interest. Perhaps one day it will come back - it’s got so much history and re-potential.

Agreed, the Mayor of Portland and Top Administration of Multnomah County made staying in Portland during the Pandemic unbearable…

I like my Pinot's darker and more full bodied, so I usually go for California Central Coast vineyards. Is there anywhere in Oregon that makes this style of Pinot?
@visforvino4 жыл бұрын
Family Mitroff Gotcha! I’d say you’re more likely to find that style from nocal for sure (Russian River, Sonoma coast, etc) BUT that’s not to say it doesn’t exist in Oregon. It would vary from producer to producer; if they pick their grapes later and have vineyards that are either hotter from elevation or slope, you’ll get that dark fruit character. For instance, some of the Lange wines are fairly dark, though the acidity is still present more so than north Cal wines. I know that’s kind of a long answer, but in short I think it would depend on prouder more than place! I remember the Tori Moor wines being a bit dark, as well Sokol Blosser!

@@visforvino Thanks so much, Vince. BTW, I am also from Cleveland and now I am a partner/owner of a winery in Murphys in the Sierra Foothills.

Purple Hands tends to be more fruit forward with some nice tannins that will age well. Reasonable price ... Latchkey is my favorite with Purple Hands. Cheers.

I try to tell people in my store in Connecticut to buy Willamette Pinot Noir, but I never know exactly what to tell them other than it's known for its pinot, it's a unique terroir....I think if you say it's great wine enough times, the customers believe you, but I need more adjectives to intersperse amongst my claims that it's great.
@visforvino5 жыл бұрын
Hal Brenner Haha I feel ya! Personally, what I usually tell people about Oregon Pinot is that it’s leaner and more earth driven than Cali Pinots, but the fruit character is still developed and bright!
@frankr40384 жыл бұрын
Hal Brenner not sure you will get this but we sit on the 45th parallel aligned with Burgundy in France. “Lighter” wine that leans to more earthy wine ... OR shares all best practices and is a very relaxed area. 2015 was a great year and in fact other then 2019 we have been exceptionally lucky with great crops. Domaine Serene, Purple Hands, Domaine Drouhin, White Rose are some of my favorites and range from $40 to $100 a bottle. cheers ... PS our Chardonnay is fantastic and we are aggressively pursuing sparkling wine.

I think the only American wine that is globally exported is Californian wine?.
@visforvino2 жыл бұрын
You should be able to find some Willamette Valley wine internationally, and perhaps some Washington wine as well.
