If I've said it once, I've said it a thousand times. There is barely anything like this out there for BSL or even AUSLAN in which the grammar is largely the same. So many books and videos teach basic sentence structure which is not how conversations actually work in real life. Thank you!

Rochelle, how about a series with signs that are similar/signed in the same area. For example: burden/responsibility, tired, fault. Thanks for you videos. I sure enjoy the extra practice. :)

The correct way of saying it is STORE ME GO ME. They don't really use "I" in ASL, it's ME they sign. 46 years experience and it's a native language for me.

Hey Rochelle! I would love to see a video on work place signs and how to communicate with someone who is deaf/hard of hearing at work. it can be difficult for someone who is deaf or hard of hearing to get along with co workers who dont speak their language. any tips or tricks you might have would be helpful. Love the videos!

How would you sign " Diana said her grandfather will pick her up tomorrow" ? Would it be something like " Tomorrow Diana grandfather will pick her up" or " Tomorrow grandfather pick up Diana"
@34nicoli5 жыл бұрын
aaah this is confusing for me because I'm used to English grammar lol. I hope to get this down so I'll be able to sign properly. Grammar, Numbers, and Colors are hard for me to get still but then again I mostly use a few signs for work...and even I'm weak in that.

Rochelle, thank you so much for all your videos! They've been so helpful to me trying to learn ASL. I have a question about grammar: how do you do the imperative tense in ASL? As in asking someone to do something. For instance, how would you say something like "Take the child to the doctor" as opposed to "The child is being taken to the doctor". Or "Put the book on the table" as opposed to "I'm putting the book on the table". I've asked a couple people this question already, and I've only gotten vague answers, so I'm still curious. Thanks so much for all your help.

For the sentence Johnny bought Grandma a desk on Sunday. Could we have worded it as SUNDAY DESK JOHNNY HE BUY, GRANDMA SHE GET?
@sshelget2 жыл бұрын
This confirms it. I will never be able to sign ASL. Just way too confusing. Even when you explain it like this, when I watch you sign it properly, if I I didn’t know the sentence originally, I would never understand what you’re saying cuz the words are all mixed up. I’m just too engrained in proper English I guess. :(

With all your knowledge and experience, it's disturbing to see you consistently prefer to crowd the camera so most of your signing space is cut off. It's like listening to the radio that keeps losing it's signal. You of all people should be smarter than that.
