Panjaabi language has two scripts. a).Gurmukhi b). Shahmukhi. Panjaab got divided into two parts in 1947. East Panjaab ans West Panjaab. East Panjaab is under Indian occupation and West is under Pakistan. East Panjaab uses Gurmukhi. West Panjaab uses Shahmukhi. The great Panjaab was an independent country. But in 1849 Britishers took control after the death of Maharaja Ranjit Singh. They merged The Great Panjaab with British India. With the grace of GOD one day again The PANJAAB will be a free country.

i speak hindi fluently but punjabi is frustrating as hell!! i live in canada so thats all the indians speak here. Its like i can almost understand them but not quite

Its funny have found out that punjabi speakers have a easier transition to hindi, and hindi speakers have a harder time transtioning to punjabi. I have often heard that Hindi in itself is the trickier language. Very interesting! I am still very new on my punjabi journey but very much enjoying it! Good luck! Sat sri akaal ji!

@@NathanielPhalen that's cos its 80% the same language and learning Hindi is easy as hell with Bollywood and such. But learning Punjabi is hard cos the only way really is to be born speaking it. I can understand it when people speak but yeah not completely

@@DesiAnanth lmao, its not 80% the same language and even if it was same as Hindi, how would you have such a hard time learning Punjabi? The truth is punjabi in its true form is a “pralkrit” descended from an old form of punjabi which it self descended from proto-Sanskrit. Its evolution is completely seperate from “Kharboli” prakrit which modern day Hindustani or Hindi-urdu evolved from. Indian Punjabi definitely have tonal and literal influences from Hindi since 1947 but that doesn’t mean that Punjabi is 80% similar to Hindi.They both are independent languages and if you learned only one of either two while growing up, later you will have a hard time learning the other as they are not similar as they sound or seem to be.
