This " Shadowing " video is helping me a lot with stress on the right syllable for instance in words like ' pastÓral' and ' survÉyed " . (pronunciation " surveyed " can be tricky !) 2. Difficult name , Bathsheba , Even if it doesnt help , it wont hurt checking the pronunciation that Google Translate offers here . But considering the context of the surrounding text , it is "RP " like , so I would go for Baath- SHEE-bah . 3 Because of the leaves swooping down , Dutch people call it " Treur wilg " = "mourn willow " . Very decorative trees on river banks .

On your suggestion in a previous video, I have read ''Far from the Madding Crowd'', ''The Mayor of Casterbridge and I have reread ''Tess of the d'Urberville'' by Thomas Hardy, but in translation. I know that the best thing is to read books in the original language, but at that moment there were nor available books in English. At least, I have acquainted myself with that English writer.

Hi. 🙂It’s become somewhat of a ritual I am looking forward to, to end the week with your videos. I often find myself wondering what your theme on this week’s video will be. To sound more British and use British words vs American is a goal. The book was probably not my cup of tea, but the main theme was. I love poem, maybe you could use some in your videos. 🙏Many English poem can only be read in English and lose their beauty when translated, for instance two of my favorit poem Invictus (W.E Henley) and IF (R. Kipling), canot be translated. Have a lovely weekend ☀❤
