I have traveled to Catalunya the last several years for vacations and I've been looking for different ways to learn Catalan. This is awesome, Maria! Moltes gràcies. Keep the content coming.

I think you should add another type of videos on your channel, i.e. videos where you explain some grammar rules or smth, but where you speak entirely in catalan (with subtitles in catalan). I'm sure that I will understand you because I speak other romance languages.
@learncatalanfrombarcelona77566 жыл бұрын
Gràcies for the suggestion! It is actually something I have been considering and I also think it would make sense :) I will plan some content with this approach. In the meantime, there are 2 other videos on this channel with 2 short conversations with Catalan subtitles.

I have already become a fan of your sessions in Catalan. Thank you for your videos. I have some doubt in understanding when to use for “to have” haver, heure, or tenir. I shall be grateful if you could explain the difference. Thank you.

Gràcies! I moved to Lleida and my partner is Catalan so your videos help a lot. There really isn't much information out there for learning the language as an English native.

Moltes gràcies Zinzi! I am sure you have already realised how different the Catalan accent in Lleida is to mine :) Always open to suggestions for potential videos as I can imagine in your every day you really find yourself in situations where you would like to know something more about Catalan :)

@@learncatalanfrombarcelona7756 definitivament, però els teus vídeos ajuden molt! I am trying to learn, but it is hard. And everyone seems to switch between languages mid sentance which doesn't help a non-native jaja. It is fun learning though!

I think it both looks and sounds more beautiful than any other language I’ve studied. While it shares some words from Spanish and other languages it doesn’t really sound like any of them when fully spoken. It really is a language all on its own.

Great videos, thank you! I teach English as a second language as a native English speaker and I'm still getting to grips with ser/estar and masculine/feminine in Catalan and Spanish. I suppose it's a similar concept to our auxiliary "do" that is so transparent to an English native, but something totally new for a non-native. I'm busy learning B1 Catalan but I've missed so many BASIC grammar principles from lower levels that I feel I need to go back and revise them all, so thanks again for the videos!

I’m getting confused because ser and estar are used completely differently than in castellano. e.g you use estar to say which locations you’re in (in Spanish)

Hola Jack! You are right, there are some similarities, but also different uses. To be honest, we (Catalans) also have to think it through sometimes!

Gràcies per la meravellosa lliçó bella Maria🙏🙏👌💝👍 Ets meravellósa!! Meravellósa Maria🙏🤟🤘👏👩🏼🏫 I have one question. Why do you pronounce Estar as ‘Ah Star’ but you pronounce Ser as ’S-Ere’? Is it because the first one begins with E, but the second one starts with a consonant S?
@learncatalanfrombarcelona77566 жыл бұрын
Haha moltes gràcies! And all suggestions always welcome :) That’s a great question! In standard Catalan (it change depending on the dialect/area), neutral “E” (non-stressed “E” sounds like a neutral “A”. You can find more info in the video that focuses on pronouncing vowels. Because in “SER” the only vowel is stressed, then it does sound like “E”. Hope this clarifies? :)
