I am from the Philippines and on our Music and Arts class, we were thought about the culture of Chinese people and we had also performed a Chinese song that if I could still remember was entitled "Mo Li Hua" and I had always thought that Chinese language is very beautiful. And watching some Chinese Dramas like A love so Beautiful pushed me to learn it. Xie Xie miss Emma! :)

Yes, we did enjoy this video and we did find it helpful. Mission accomplished, Emma. Also, we really appreciate the way you move your hands to demonstrate the particular tones. Most of the mandarin youtube videos are lacking this feature. Btw, I enjoy your lessons so much I usually mark them as "like" even before I view them. LOL.

Perhaps I haven't looked hard enough but was wondering if you could have a few few videos with animals on the farm,in the jungle, animals at the zoo, and animals you might see in the home or pet store. My children's Chinese tutor is going over animals with them and I noticed my two year-old already likes repeating things she has learned in your wonderful videos.

I have a question: The xi in xu huan has a falling-rising tone-mark above the word xi, but it sounds like it is being pronounced as the English word "she" without any falling/rising tone emphasis. Is this because the vowel in the following word "huan" is being carried? I would just like to perfect my tones, Thank you!
@aaronrichard564710 жыл бұрын
Sort of. In two-character words, one of the syllables tends to be stressed. If the first syllable is stressed, the second one usually becomes neutral tone. Especially common in words like with 子 as the second element. If the second character is the stressed one (like in 喜欢), the tone on the first syllable stays, but it becomes less obvious. That's how it sounds to me anyway.

Hi Emma, I am having a great time learning Chinese from your easy and effective videos. I liked the way in which you have simplified the learning process by breaking up the words and sentences. Also, the subtitling in roman and mandarin is a saviour. However, I have a small request, in the colours video, the subtitles are coloured. It is very difficult to see the mandarin characters. It will be really helpful, to see subtitles in black in white box or vice versa (Ref image). If you could also add literal translation of each word as mentioned in image below. It will help us learn the new words simultaneously. xie xie
