I just want to add that when you place the ward @5:12 you could put it just a little bit to the left and you will also have the vision down the path to Radiant's mid T2 tower. Which grants you a few extra seconds to see and react to incoming ganks if you are not good at looking on the minimap

Excellent guide. I'm thinking of picking up a team at my college and since Dota 2 support is a bit more complicated than LoL, I'm picking it up (formally a hard carry).

The Radiant wards that's not covered is the ones you can launch into the dire base while standing on the low ground on the other side of the wall. This is super useful for taking towers and stopping channels like SK epicenter.
@eltoto4812 жыл бұрын
was about to comment the same ^^ that kind of wards is crucial to make a good break into the enemy base, without being caught by the enemy team initiating you

I love going solo as Clinkz while four of my team occupies 5 of theirs. He can take a tower on his own no problem and has an escape mechanism that makes it easy to escape if their team is good enough to respond. Also dropping wards everywhere is pretty easy. Great hero if you gotta play every role in the trench.

Press skill. Hold shift and press another skill. Do note that second action will always go after animation of first action is finished. Of course, you also should note that there is no limit for actions that can be queued at the same time. But if there is an attack (?) in the middle of that queue, it will pretty much ignore actions that are after the attack command.

There are spots where you can ward inside the enemy base before having taken the tier 3. This is insanely useful when trying to push against a turtling team and then catching an enemy off-guard with a pudge hook or mirana arrow.

It's not the vision that blocks the spawn it's the proximity to the spawn. You need to be much closer to the spawn to actually block. If you don't have a good feel for the distance just putting the ward on top of the spawn works but there are some really pro blocking positions.

Btw there is a ward, that you can place on dire's highground when tier 3 tower is standing.Just stay little bit lower from mid lane and place it near the trees on HG.

You can actually place wards inside of the bases along the upper rim between the tire 3 towers. It makes it a lot easier if you're having a hard time making that final push to rax.
@GhuyGuldY12 жыл бұрын
1 thing is missing from this guide: I usually place a ward inside their base just b4 we push the 3rd tier tower. this ward can either be between top and middle or middle and bottom and can provide us vital information b4 we initiate.

You mentioned that it's going to be a part of the warding guide, so I won't submit it as a "Learn Dota 2 - .... ", but the toughest thing with warding (for me at least) is knowing when you need to ward (remembering when they're going to run out) as well as when it's safe to ward. I've died too many times going to ward, and then my teammates complain cos there's not wards up and I'm dying too much :(

Turtling is a strategy used commonly by chinese teams where they take a carry and 3 support/1 semi carry, the 4 people gank, ward, push and hold the game while the carry farms long enough for him to own the opposing team heroes and win the match for them
@chiabacem-ism12 жыл бұрын
3:15 That ward is actually superior in some cases. Especially Roshan killers like Ursa and Lycan. Trust me, you can 5-man gank them and continue where they left off.
@JosephCrawfordThe6th12 жыл бұрын
Sadly, bkb doesn't solve everything. Sometimes you don't really need the protection, but the ability to seal off an specific enemy hero. Take an orchid for example, to seal the AoE monster that's kicking your team (not every teammate can farm a bkb, and the Pipe only goes so far). Or a blademail to counter a hard carry, a MKB to counter evasion, etc. That's what I was referring to.
@MushroomKing3012 жыл бұрын
i agree, i'm filipino and a large portion of pinoy pub players never pick support/suck at support/don't know what's a support. On an average game, you'd be lucky to see even 1 support, much less warding. in the philippines, warding is REALLY UNDERRATED
@greendayrocker8612 жыл бұрын
He's done lane configuration as he calls it. Ganking on the other hand is rather simple, but it's knowing when to gank and where to come from. That largely depends on their warding and who it's against, ergo very situational.

Nice guide but i think you should explain better how do wards you mentioned work for both (radiant and dire) sides. Pointing that out since you focused alot on radiant's perception. Also you didnt mention about warding in enemy base from low ground before pushing tier 3 towers. It's also very important since it provides you with knowledge about enemy defensive positions.
@SkimScar12 жыл бұрын
ofc i'm talking about the lane wards on the short and hardlane.
@kuwpale12 жыл бұрын
This guide is good but not good enough for competitive as opposed to his claims. 1) No ward on pulling areas, 2) Did not include the offensive ward for btm lane just below the 3rd tier tower provides excelent vision for gankers (on early phase). 3)3:13 ward is not bad specially if you want to secure power ups. Plus the alternate location just covers most of the radiant jungle area which i think is a waste.4) Ward placement on 5:30 is actually best placed when 3rd tier tower for Dire is still up.

@clickedbigfoot10 жыл бұрын
Each hero is diverse. Youre just going to have to learn what each can do by practice, and seeing them in action over and over. On the bright side, theres less heroes in dota than in league.
@zhanibek838410 жыл бұрын
I played Dota 1 before, but was a long time ago so I had to learn everything back again. I found useful to use win rates and charts of the most popular heroes in order to learn more about my potential opponent. I took top 20 in both charts and just read all their abilities. Checked counter picks and then I decided to main 4 heroes: pudge, legion commander, BH and tidehunter (due to the win rate, simple control and because they don't require advanced and complex mechanics). That helps a lot.
@WitjaNerd10 жыл бұрын
***** "main". "i am a hard carry player". forget these concepts. they don't work unless you are on a professional level. and even the pros can play every role. diversity and understanding of all roles and heroes makes or breaks a good dota player.
@zhanibek838410 жыл бұрын
WitjaNerd I didn't quite understand you. Everything I said was "try to concentrate on few heros. learn how to do well with them. It will help you in the beginning".
@jalalasif747110 жыл бұрын
Yeah, its pretty intimidating at first. Here's what I did when I started out. Look up heroes I find cool in KZbin, you know, the Spotlight videos, explaining their abilities and roles etc. If I enjoy the hero, then play that hero for the next 10~ games or so. Then attempt to understand what heroes, items and abilities can counter you and why. Eg: Doom is a very powerful hero that can potentially disable almost every hero in the game (Ulti= 16 seconds of ability mute+item mute+heavy damage over time); but his ulti is single target, so if you team up, hes not so tough, and is easily countered by heavy right click heroes like Drow, Phantom Assassin etc who doesn't rely completely on active item abilities (not item, active item abilites, mind you!) and skills, with moderate farm (I know there's a lot of arguments here, but trying to keep it simple, ok?). Then move on to your next favourite hero, and rinse and repeat. Understand one hero completely, like really well! Doing so automatically grants you a passive idea of what types of hero are weak against what and how to counter items, heroes, play styles, lanes etc. Doing this really expands your understanding of the game, what your team needs, and what items etc to get when the enemy team has counter heroes. Learn one thing at a time, and learn it well =). Hope this helps xD!
