It’s a great EV. I got mine 3 months ago after having the same ICE car for 10yrs. It’s a major improvement. Drives great, 20” rims, different & sporty style, nice lights, safety features. It’s FAST

Always good to hear current owners saying that they love it! I'm considering an EV for my next primary driver and it's a tie right now between this or the Mach-E

Amazing detailed instructions. As an Ioniq6 SEL RWD owner for the last 4 months, this is a fabulous learning video. Even though many of the features you've demonstrated work, my only disappointment is that with my 305 mile trim level, lots of the features are not available to me.
@CarsWithSteve3 ай бұрын
Thanks Edward! Definitely lose a few of the nice features being in the SEL but how are you enjoying the car otherwise? Is it the first time that you've owned an EV?
@edwardgarner12993 ай бұрын
@@CarsWithSteve : It's our 3rd EV (2 previous Nissan Leafs). I've owned 14 cars in my 60+ years of driving. Although the Ioniq6 is leased, it is the best car I have ever driven. Fun to drive, 310 miles on full charge, quiet running and lots of power, and the amazing technical features available.

I'm so surprised with the Ioniq lineup, I'm a huge fan of the Ioniq 6 and the 5N I drove a few months back. Really well done cars for sure. It's great to hear from an EV owner that's been driving them for a while. Do you miss petrol cars at all?
@lexistential3 ай бұрын
Same. I went from a top trim 2019 Kona EV to a 2023 Ioniq 6 SEL RWD and it's definitely been a tradeoff. Ventilated seats, heated steering wheel, and automatic wipers were all nice to have on the Kona. It was also slightly faster in ideal conditions, but since it's FWD it was a lot more liable to slip. But all that said, the Ioniq 6 is still a very clear upgrade. Sound system is better, seats are miles more comfortable, ride quality and sound dampening are in a completely different league, tons of legroom, and the charging speed is absolutely unreal. Plus a bit of a range boost, though my Kona was quite a bit more efficient for what it's worth.
@CarsWithSteve2 ай бұрын
@lexistential great to hear from someone who has owned both! When I'm ready to upgrade the top 3 on my list for EVs right now are Mach-E GT, Ioniq 6 and Ioniq 5 N. The ventilated seats in the Ioniq are one thing that's drawing me that way instead, plus the exterior style of the 6 is great

Around 35,000 miles, you need to do a coolant flush on the high-voltage battery and traction motors. You need a special ev low conductivity coolant for that. The oem one is too expensive and Peak sells the exact same formula for less. Also the ATF trans fluid for the motors as well. Also, the lead acid 12v battery from the factory could be better, so it is better if you upgrade to an AGM or lithum battery. The regen on the car wears the brake pad down a lot faster just be aware.
@CarsWithSteve4 ай бұрын
Appreciate you pointing that out in case people are wondering. That's not bad at all compared to most ICE vehicles. Lithium upgrade of the 12v is a great suggestion! Are you finding your brakes are getting worn out quite a bit? Most EV owners I know that rely on regen find that their brake pads are lasting longer...

$1 per kw to charge away from home here so home charging is essential. Not paying over twice the cost of gas
@CarsWithSteve3 ай бұрын
I've always found most high voltage charge stations are really pricey but damn $1 per kw is high. Have you already picked up an EV or thinking about it for your next ride?
@cyruslad54623 ай бұрын
@CarsWithSteve ordered an Ioniq 6 in November, it arrived at the dealership Friday, pick it up September 2(new registration plate comes out here in September). Choice was AWD Premium or RWD Ultimate, went for the Ultimate for the extra trim, hope it's not too underpowered. There are some 21kw chargers at shopping centres that run about $0.40/kw. Saw a 150kw at a service station last week that was $1.35(equivalent)/kw. At home it's $25 to charge during the day and about 7 overnight. Without the home charger it would be 2-3 x cost of gas, it's a real shit show here.
@CarsWithSteve3 ай бұрын
RWD won't be as powerful but it'll still have a good amount of torque. What car are you replacing? Those charge rates are nuts.. I think the most expensive level 3 fast charger around me would be about $50 CAD to go from 0-80 in the 77.4 kW. It definitely sounds like home charging will be the best bet, especially if you're doing a level 2 home charger
@cyruslad54623 ай бұрын
@CarsWithSteve I'm coming from a 2.0 petrol Mazda 6 sport. It was pretty gutless but the engine liked to rev and the manual box is a joy. The Ioniq definitely has more to it. A home charger is being fitted next week, most of my miles are within 100 of home.
@CarsWithSteve3 ай бұрын
The Ioniq 6 will definitely feel more powerful even if you only went for the 53 kWh version. The 77.4 kWh will have more horsepower and the torque output for both RWD versions is 258 lb-ft compared to your Mazda 6's 157 lb-ft. Enjoy the new ride!

Yeah. Manufactory should figure out how to add a spare tire. I woukd hate the inconvenience of waiting on a tow truck to come just to tow my car at 2am. If had a spare..change it and on my way
@CarsWithSteve4 ай бұрын
Even a mini spare would make sense. I get it would add a bit of extra weight but it would be more than worth it! You could do an aftermarket with a jackstand
@bearclaw51153 ай бұрын
Fix-a-Flat or do what I do, keep a portable air pump in the car. Most leaks are slow enough you could get home just by refilling the tire. Also I keep a tire repair kit in the car and just plug the tire right there. Having this equipment on board is cheap and lighter than a spare which you can also buy yourself.

Don't let that be the only reason you don't consider this car! Plus, I can see Hyundai adding it in to either the 2025 or 2026 model. The 2025 Ioniq 5 has wireless now so it's just a matter of time before the 6 gets it too
