This needs to be a teaching style for more languages. It’s actually teaching useful words you can say to get a point across with the minimum vocabulary without knowing sentence structure, unlike Rosetta Stone

This is actually a great approach to language learning! Focus on getting your needs across first, and only later focus on the niceties like how to politely say goodbye etc.

If you speak Finnish like that, it is a good start. Nanook stresses the first syllable in every word, he has started to make a clear difference between long and short sounds of the same kind, and he beautifully takes turns and happily interacts, even with humour. That's great. It is all about communication and not perfection. Keep it up, mix (e)motions or not. :-)

I spoke finnish almost fluently when i was around 10 years old, forgot it gradually over the years, the last 4 years i have gotten much from it back and can speak to the degree that everyone can understand me without a problem. Also decided to learn some other languages.
