Hey I just made one for the cost of a teensy 4.1 board (27$US) and a raspberry Pi I had laying around. Look into it, you won’t regret it! Minimal terminal/coding experience required.

At 24:40, when you explain (A+B+C)>D, you say: "Yeah, it's probably useful!" There's so many possibilities here that we're firmly into "probably useful" territory, indeed :-) Great explanation! I've always had a hard time grasping FM and after this tutorial, I have the feeling I'm starting to understand how it works and what the effects on wave and sound are.

no, there are 2 envelopes and 2 LFOS and 3 table columns that can be freely assigned to various properties of operators.

for example you can have ENV1 and ENV2 control the levels of operators A and B, LFO1 and LFO2 control the levels of operators C, D (LFOs can act as simple envelopes as well), table column 1 can be assigned to operator A's ratio, column 2 to operator B's Feedback, column 3 to operator C's feedback

@@WARDISWARD it's 4 operators. 4 ENVs would be nice, but using the LFOs as a workaround is quite alright to me, this is still a powerful fm synth.

You have 7 envelopes for 4 operators. 2 are called ENV and are AHD envelopes, 2 are called LFO but can be used as simple ramp envelopes or LFOs, and 3 are tables which can be used to create very powerful complex envelopes or lfos.
