The best way to learn is to give it a go. Any piece of glass will do to practice on. And, great idea about the Facebook group.

Thanks for the tip of carbon paper. I might have some carbon paper laying around somewhere. This morning I just made a cheat sheet, like you did in one of the video’s where you showed the gradations on a piece of glass by making strips of engravings next to each other. First diamond burr, then green stone, then a white dentist stone (I couldn’t find a proper Arkansas stone here in the Netherlands, so I ordered it from AliExpress) and then polishing rubbers. Next step is to try something. I have an empty perfume bottle and I want to make a rose on it. Now I know that you can use carbon paper, it makes my life a lot easier to transfer my sketch to the bottle. Thanks for sharing.

Using a water dripped does it make a smoother engraving
@whatktmadenext3 жыл бұрын
There are several reasons to use water. One of the most important is to reduce the amount of glass dust that gets into the air. Using water cools the surface and protects both the burr and the glass, making diamond burrs last longer. And yes, I find that engraving done wet is just a little smoother.

@@whatktmadenext what do you use for a a water dripper, if you don't have a fully fledged work area???
@whatktmadenext2 жыл бұрын
My work space is very basic, but I have a simple home made water dripper. There is a video that shows how I made it. (And there is another one that shows how I deal with the used water). kzbin.info/www/bejne/l52moKR8pq2YjMk

If you have a Facebook page we can send (upload ) a picture of what were are doing.

That might work. I'll try to get something sorted out before the next video is finished.
