Hello, T'helah, You teaching is excellent and I am having no difficulties with your exercises, due to your excellent teaching skill. Just a question concerning vowel application of infinitive verbs; Is there anyway one can determine what vowels an infinitive verb consists of? Or ,is this something that can only be known by memory?
@ThelahBenDan
@ThelahBenDan 6 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much, and I'm glad you're able to do the exercises easily. I don't know that there are easy ways to determine the infinitive's vowels, they don't always follow set patterns the way the roots tend to. For paal verbs where the first letter of the root is alef, the infinitive pattern is often le/eh/o, i.e. le-e-sof (לֶאֱסוֹף), le-e-chol (לֶאֱכוֹל), le-e-hov (לֶאֱהוֹב), but otherwise you just mainly have to be familiar with Hebrew to guess which vowels to apply. When in doubt, you can always check a free tool like www.pealim.com.

Limchoa has both a Chet and an Alef. So Alef takes presedence over Chet It is an Alef-group rather than an AChAH-group ... Is this the case with the Ayin-group too?

Hi Thelah, Amazing teaching! thank you. Quick question about AH-CHA verbs. We had the exercise with למחוא. it could be an AH-CHA verb because of the khet in the middle in the root but it also ends in aleph. How do we know?
@ThelahBenDan
@ThelahBenDan 5 жыл бұрын
Thank you for watching and leaving feedback. Great observation! Follow the Alef ending pattern (mochei, mocheit, etc.).

@@ThelahBenDan i had this same question. i was confused as to why it would'nt be the Ah CHA group. even tho it ends in the alef. i would like to know the why
@ThelahBenDan
@ThelahBenDan 4 жыл бұрын
@@azaryahoneal1106 It follows the rules for both groups. For AHCHA, the changes from the regular pattern are in the plural forms. For Ends in Alef, the changes from the regular pattern are in the singular forms. So it follows the Alef rules for singular, and the plural rules for AHCHA.

Thank you for such amazing lessons which are really easy to understand. Never thought verbs would be so easy. However, I have a question. For the verb למחוא [Limkho] which means to applaud...the shoresh are מ ח א . I am confused as to which group does it belong to...as the middle is a ח making it a ah-cha group and at the same time ends in א . Please tell me how to conjugate this verb. Thank you!
@ThelahBenDan
@ThelahBenDan 4 жыл бұрын
Thank you Priya! That's a great question - it actually follows rules from both. For the singular, you follow the ends in Alef rules. For plural, you'll follow the AH-CHA.

@@ThelahBenDan Ok..thank you for the reply. Are there other verbs falling into the same category ( where it falls in to AH-CHA group and the root ending in Alef)?

I could not understand the conjugation of Lada'at (to know) because it ends with taf but we act as if it ends with ayin. Could you please explain the reason?
@ThelahBenDan
@ThelahBenDan 5 жыл бұрын
Sure - we conjugate based on the root, *not* the infinitive. So even though the infinitive LaDaAt ends in a Tav, the *ROOT* of the verb is YaDA, or Yod/Dalet/Ayin. Since the last letter of the root is Ayin, we follow the Ayin/Chet conjugation pattern.
