I am finally getting back to more crafting videos with the third video in my How To Cross-Stitch series where I start the second color of this small lady bug cross-stitch.
Check out my Etsy shop for other patterns I have created, as well as the occasional cross stitch I may also post for sale! www.etsy.com/s...

This guy is so cool. I love how he's not afraid to embrace and enjoy crafts like this because they're traditionally "feminine" things. He's just the kindest dude, these tutorials are helping me so much!

Very true this guy is really awesome! Been crossstitching for probably 25 years and I always split 2 strands of floss then threaded needle with all those loose ends so difficult then you had the thread come out of needle! Ugh just frustrating ! The way he does it no fear of thread coming out of needle ! Truly genius! It goes so much faster also ! Thanks for the tips 5 * from me!

I like the method of how you thread your needle. My question is, how do you thread it if your using 3 strands instead of 2. Please demonstrate if possible. Thank you
@PhilsNextKick
@PhilsNextKick 3 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately I don't have any tricks for an odd number of strands. For those I just thread the needle regularly and have to deal with the possibility of it falling off. That's one reason I'm not a huge fan of back stitching, lol.

Really wish I’d found this before I started my project. I misunderstood the two strand thing and have actually been using four, and burning through my thread. Sigh. Guess my outline (which is what I’m doing now) will be very thick.

I hope someone can address my concerns. The last video he started in the middle and worked his way to the right. Is it common to cut and finish the right side and then counting the stitches frm the middle to see where we start the left side from OR am I supposed to continue from the middle (assuming I end there) and then work towards the left of the piece? I hope my question made sense 😅

I'm a horrible person and used the wrong color to start my chart. I figured it out when I finished one whole first color and noticed it looked slightly darker than the floss I finished with (which was the correct color). What's the best way to remove one whole floss string worth of work? Thank you for your videos!!
@PhilsNextKick
@PhilsNextKick 6 жыл бұрын
I've done things like that, or miscounting rows, more times than Icare to admit! From my experience it isn't difficult to remove stitches, but it can be a little tedious, and sometimes frustrating. I always just use a needle and pull the floss out in reverse... Maybe a good idea for a future video!

@@PhilsNextKick Ok great, I will try to do that, thank you! That would be a great idea! Maybe 2 variations... one removing the color when it's the only one on the fabric, and one removing a single color in between other colors.

I might have missed this info, but why are you using only one strand of the thread instead of the full thread?
@PhilsNextKick
@PhilsNextKick 5 жыл бұрын
Your pattern should specify how many strands to use, but generally most cross stitches use 2 strands. The way I thread my needle with one folded strand ends up making 2 strands. Other stitches, may use a different amount of strands, for instance back stitching usually only uses one strand.

I don't understand how you ran your *closing* red thread through the other stitches, as you were finishing up, *to tie it off.* 😕 Edit: I was hoping that you'd show how to tie off the thread, when finished, but you stopped the video before tying it off.
@PhilsNextKick
@PhilsNextKick 4 жыл бұрын
I don't actually tie it off, just run it under a few stitches and snip it. If you can get it under the stitches you just finished, then when you give it a little tug it actually tightens those stitches down on top of your floss.

@PhilsNextKick

All the time! When you get close to the end of the floss you are using, just use the same technique that's in my changing colors video. Run your needle and floss under a few stitches on the back then snip it off, re-thread your needle and start right back where you left off.
