Didn't check temps, fixture clearances, didn't turn shower of the tub/shower on to make sure that's not leaking. Inline mixing valves not allowed on showers, verify handheld is a112.18.1 compliant, is tub caulked to floor.

At 4:45 in the video did you say to "seal and caulk" at the base of the toilet? If so, where do you find this in the code? If the toilet is caulked, wouldn't this damage the floor and cause a leak below the toilet if the wax seal fails?
@PPG1967 Жыл бұрын
If you're familiar with the 2018 IRC or IPC, it's under Plumbing Fixtures, Installation section.

@@PPG1967 Doesn't the wax seal make it water tight? If the wax seal fails, water will be trapped between the flange and perimeter of the fixture if it is caulked and sitting on top of a floor that may or may not be waterproof. My bathroom floor is 3/4" tongue and groove oak flooring and it is not waterproof. If the wax seal fails, I want to know about it before the floor is destroyed.

Question about the T&P relief tubes: The code states that the piping shall discharge in the same room as the water heater. Those two in the video go through the wall. Can you explain the situation here if this was approved and how it differs from the code?

2018 IPC, same as you. 504.6 #2 is what I was referring to. I wasn’t trying to challenge you, I was just asking. I’m fairly new to the inspection game, so I welcome any help and explanation I can get. I looked at the T&P section just before watching this video and I wondered about what I saw vs. what I read. Any clarification you can provide is appreciated. Thank you.

@@PPG1967 a final test that has to be done to satisfy city plumbing inspector. Balloon off stack at the base and at the roof, make sure traps have water and fill the toilet bowl with water to make sure it holds.
